Expression pedal in ACE?

I just got an expression pedal for my keyboard, but is there a way to patch it into ACE? I see breath is supported, but not expression. *sad face*

Never noticed that ... it is in the ADSR & Mapping Generator menus o.0

Ok, so I can route it through the mapper for now... That's cool.
This definitely seems like something for the next ACE update, though... Either a seperate input for Exp., or something that lets you switch out Breath for it...
(I've actually never ever seen a breath controller...)

There's nothing on the pedal but a range knob, though it's an M-audio pedal going into an M-audio control keyboard, so there might be some function in the keyboard (I haven't looked into it's functionality much).bmrzycki wrote:Breath is just CC2, Expression is just CC11. If you have a way to change your pedal's CC output you could use it as a "breath" controller.
Even so, I'd rather change the CC# recieved on the synth, rather than switch the key/pedal assignment, because I go back and fourth between synths a lot, and Exp. seems to be the common thread.

When I did pedal sync sweep with ACE I just right-clicked the cross knob (with sync turned up all the way), selected MidiLearn and moved the pedal...
I also think some synths use a different cc than 11 and I ran into that problem with Diva a while back.
What bugs me is that all instances are affected by such changes made which is a pita using multiple instances in my DAW!
I think I read somewhere that Urs was considering allowing the global assignments to be switched off.

Understood. You're probably able to change the expression CC value with a keyboard editor; m-audio is pretty good about those.Sendy wrote:There's nothing on the pedal but a range knob, though it's an M-audio pedal going into an M-audio control keyboard, so there might be some function in the keyboard (I haven't looked into it's functionality much).

Another option is to use a midi plugin converter. For example, in Reaper there's a plug called ReaControlMIDI that you can give an input CC # and convert it to an output CC.
Then when you add ACE to a track just add the plug before it to convert 11 to 2.
Of course, the real solution is for expression to be added to ACE, but until then these are a few workarounds.

I've got a couple expression pedals and I think I wouldn't mind at least one more, so I wouldn't think that making one expression input would be that useful. It's easy for me to set my two pedals to what ever CC# I want in th Midi Timepiece II interface that I have them pluged into. I have a couple of modules that have pedal imputs, the DP4 and the Korg Wavestation, On both I can set the CC# to whatever I want. Then I just use midi learn on ACE.
I like to set it up outside of the computer at these pedal interfacing if at all possible.
I use Numerology where I can setup presets and with those I could change my pedals CC# assignments on the fly if I wanted to have access to a variety of modulations destinations on the Synth in Performance. What I mean by this is you can midi learn 5 diiferent destintions with diffirent CC# and then just chose the preset using the Launchpad. or other midicontroller.

X-mod and sync in ACE =Gonga wrote:When I did pedal sync sweep with ACE I just right-clicked the cross knob (with sync turned up all the way), selected MidiLearn and moved the pedal...
I guess this isn't a big deal, then. Plenty of workarounds. It just seemed odd to me that the de-facto expression pedal CC isn't supported, but this weirdo "breath" thingy is

I didn't have any idea what X-mod was but I did quite a bit of "messing around" when I got ACE
