Komplete 7 on Receptor VIP?

Hate to post about a product that's only just been announced, but...

I see that Receptor VIP will be shipped by Komplete 8 installed. I'm licensed for Komplete 7 (on PC), and I certainly don't want to shell out a software upgrade fee for something I can't really use.

Would a Komplete 7 install work on a Receptor with Komplete 8 pre-installed?

I am a little confused by your statement "I don't want to shell out a software upgrade fee for something I can't really use".

If the Receptor VIP comes with Komplete 8 pre-installed, then it should work. I can't imagine Muse pre-installing something that would not work.

Given you own Komplete 7 you could buy the Komplete 8 update for $199:

The Komplete 8 update would get you the following advantages over Komplete 7:
-- Kontakt 5 and Guitar Rig Pro 5
-- Absynth (400 new sounds)
-- FM8 (200 new sounds)
-- Massive (750 new sounds)

Regarding Komplete 7, I am not sure if having Komplete 8 pre-installed would mess up an installation of Komplete 7. I am not even sure if Komplete 7 can be installed by Direct Install by a user.

Hi Martin.

Komplete 8 is pre-installed, but not activated.

And that's my point: I own Komplete 7, and I don't want to spend another $200 (at least not yet) for Kontakt 5 or Guitar Rig 5. And more sounds for Massive, Absynth, and FM8? I already own most (if not all?) of the expansion packs for those instruments. :)

I was pretty sure that Komplete 7 could be direct installed. Heck, I even want to install Komplete 5 just to get Pro53 and B4II on there!

However, I wasn't entirely clear on whether the VIP is functionally like any other receptor, just with some updated hardware and faceplate + the new OS.
