This is my first entry here, I hope it doesn't go over too badly. It's not as ambient as most of the stuff here, more melody-driven.

Nice music so far, I really have no idea how to choose what tracks to vote for...

I was first thinking to try and find the tracks that just work best for me as a whole (song) only some of the music doesn't click as much with me but then there are some outstanding sounds/sections that grab my attention.... So not sure what or even if i can manage to choose what to vote for(and its not like i have a chance anyway, but thats not why i joined... its all about the participation and practise:) And on the other hand it would be lame if i didnt vote at all :/

Really having a hard time with this...btw never managed to finish my other track, its just become a 2 minute incoherent mess :P

edit: almost as big a mess as this post... i'll just +1 the words of InterslotCall a few posts down, good luck to everyone :)

With a few hours until deadline, I have to say all tunes have good quality! It's gonna be a difficult voting.

Tho it was quite painful to me at the beginning due to the CPU usage on my poor AMD64, at the end it was funny and once I finished my tune it was quite satisfactory and I think that I learned something, that was the principal purpose. For being my first contest here, I am quite happy, even being sure I can't win :D

And I'll use the synth again for sure. I'm looking forward for next OSC!

Good luck everybody!

Just posted my first entry.. "Drops of Soft Pick".

idk..next time i think I will start a bit earlier to make the track..im so tierd now, its 4:50 (night) here lol :D Some stuff should really have been changed but anyway, i guess it would never be be perfect :)

I made the track in Linux multimedia studio. However it was constantly crashing in the end (it has huge problems with vst plugins it seems) so i have to render render one and one track separatly into wav and import it into Audacity and do some final cutting and the fading there.

Daws:
LMMS
Audacity

Effects:
LADSPA effect: C* Plate2x2 (reverb)

Hope u like it !

RuediRena's last minute entry. Some rather raw ideas, not ready at all but we wanted to share. Thanks to Gorgor for bringing up folk tunes. This is our version of the German folk song Die Gedanken sind frei.

Kairibean Thoughts

13 instances of Kairatune
Track FX: TAL Reverb II, Bouncing Ball Delay, JS limiter
Master FX: Rea EQ, ReaComp
DAW: Reaper
3 GHz Dual Core, 3,2 GiB RAM, Ubuntu Studio via Wine

Dedidated to people like Bradley Manning and Sophie Scholl.

The Thoughts are Free!

The thoughts travel free,
no-one can detect them,
like shadows they flee
through night to protect them.
The cops cannot grill them
and hunters can't kill them:
their guns cannot see
a thought running free.

I think as I choose,
my luck's open-ended,
but all without clues,
so no-one's offended.
My want and desire
shall find no denier
when they find the key:
That thoughts must be free!

And if they'll be locking
me up in their dungeon
they shall not be blocking
me or my conscience,
for thoughts take no orders
and will break through borders
and walls with esprit:
The thoughts, they are free!

And thus, from tomorrow,
good riddance to sorrow!
No more feeling cranky,
just more hanky-panky!
My heart shan't be hurting,
just laughing and flirting,
and all shall agree
that thoughts must be free!

Oh yes, we feel with you. Some months back we fought LMMS on Free Alpha Contest and lost. Which led to the one minute track 'Free Kindergarten Alpha' and some grey hairs. :-o

Good luck in the contest!

Well, My entry is in under the wire. It is called "The Heat." It is so named because it was created on my computer which is constantly overheating. It is much more difficult to create something when you don't know if your machine is going to shut down at any given point. Toshiba is getting a support call tomorrow for sure. This machine is still under warranty.

The Heat was created with

11 instances of Kairatune

Veemax on the kick track
MVerb Quad on a send bus

Everything else is Kairatune. This is a very cool little tool. I am sure I will be using it for projects in the future.

I hope you like the piece. I look forward to your comments.

Hi bjulin, can't wait for your next track (maybe on osc 37?) :)
Meanwhile, I'm enjoying your beautiful "Nocturnal Awakening".

Cheers!
