Beta 11 is up, and for people who have bought it already the sample content is now available on your downloads page:

http://hgsounds.com/product-downloads

BUT, please can you do me a favor and install the beta before installing the samples and verify that the drum kit test patch still works. It gets the path to the sample content from the registry, and should fall back to the local path if it isn't found, would be good to verify this is working correctly on a few systems :)

Changes:

* Once the Sample Content is installed, MSB 0 LSB 4 has 128 drum kits availabe.
* Added a Master +- Cutoff/Resonance to the master section for the internal synths. Mid Point has no effect, these are designed to affect all synths at the same time and will subtract/add to all other cutoff and reso manipulation by altering the mid point.
* Increased size of display slightly and a few changes to the graphics.

BETA 12 is Up!

* Undo fixed
* Paint Note Mode added and has become the default editing mode - Click a note and drag, new notes will be added to active steps, holding CTRL will add new notes to disabled steps. switch on/off with the 'P' button.
* Overlay Display for the sequencer showing which step note etc... Still some work to do here and on the display in general, may lag a bit. Plus i need a button to switch it on/off.
* Unsavoury CCs when in drum mode fixed
* Clock Lights now always show the oldest playing sequence of the selected sequence regardless of auto or manual selection.
* Triggers have been improved, now has Sync mode which will keep the original sequence time and revert back when triggers are released, new button in the master section.
* Fixed a bug with Half Tempo not triggering all sequences.

Anyone else tried 11? It's quiet around here, not sure if that's good or bad :)

Thank you for adding overlay display and paint mode.

I found small bug in GUI. To overlay display is added "Note Paint Mode ON/OFF" item, while GUI has missed button for this feature. It also shifts overlay display info for next buttons. For example "Note Paint Mode ON/OFF" is displayed when mouse is over "A" button, "Auto Display ON/OFF" for "Flip" button, "Flip sequence Data" for "SHIFT".

Hey Andy!

Tried 11 although not for very long, seemed fine apart from an occasional stuck note in multimode. 12 seems pretty stable so far but i haven't thrashed it yet.

Same bug here with the note overlay. Also shift doesn't show where the notes are dragged to until i release the button. Paint didn't work at first but i'm assuming this is where the paint button is?

Paint seems to working well though and will be great for quick edits. :)

Issue with the knobs, I'm using the trackpad on my laptop but when dragging up and down repeatedly the distance the knob travels gets smaller and i run out of screen space. is the knob mode relative or circular?

BETA 13 is up, sorry I forgot to add the new graphics to the beta 12 thus the display problem!

The Knobs use a fixed amount per pixels and so moving quickly will skip some steps, moving slower should cure it?

Did you install the samples and try the drum kits yet?

Post

I'm thinking of moving the drum kits to MSB 1 which will give an entire Bank dedicated to drums and maybe make it less confusing, then MSB 0 will be just for internal instruments. What do you think?

The list is getting shorter now, I think the end is in sight! Today I'm going to work on graphics mainly.

I'll look at Multi-mode tomorrow if I don't get a chance today.

Post

What do you think about adding overlay display also for edited knob values (especially in mixers and synth)?

Eventually there will be an info display, but it's lots of work for right now and so will be after v1. The current overlay is part of the main sequence display and so can't be used elsewhere. I have coded entirely new controls for Vortex, whereas for the last few years I've been using my existing ones (for knobs and lists) repeatedly which all have info display coded within them, I just haven't had a chance to do it with the new ones yet :) Ammonite has an info display, if you look at that Vortex will have something similar at some point.

No still only using the content included with the beta. Downloading now!

BETA 14 is up!

* Time out for overlay display - Goes invisible after a set amount of no activity
* Fixed Velocity Amount per sequence - The master velocity now serves as the maximum level of all fixed vel knobs so that all can be scaled at once.
* Direction now updates in real time
* Tie Trigger added (CC 107) - Will automatically Tie all notes when the trigger is high, if it is enabled on that sequence.
* Level Meters Added
* Terranova moved to it's own panel
* Exciter Added on the FX panel
* Compressor Added to the FX panel
* Bass moved to the FX panel - The one on the Synth panel is still there but doesn't do anything at the moment, it will be removed.

Be careful with the compressor, it can be very loud..

The new Tie trigger works really well with drums!

Man you work fast! :o Can i just say loving Vortex. Surprised it's not getting more attention.

Still encountering bugs with the midi though, i'll install midi ox and see what's happening during the crashes. I installed the content and some of the drum samples are really nice and with the fx it's really easy to create interesting grooves. :)

I was gonna ask about a compressor as well. ;)
