Yes Helix beta is incredible efficient with the resources, others are Synth1, Sonigen beta, V2 and Alpha Free.

Any synths of mine (see my signature). The blooo is more Mooguesque than the others, maybe that's what you're looking for. All of them run on Atom-class netbooks.

Tyrell and zebralette would both bring an old laptop to its knees. The Elektro Studio stuff is pretty low IIRC. I would also throw in the suggestion for the recently free Model E.
