Audjoo Helix has an incredibly low CPU hit. the last free version is in the latest KVR OSC:

Yes Helix beta is incredible efficient with the resources, others are Synth1, Sonigen beta, V2 and Alpha Free.

Any synths of mine (see my signature). The blooo is more Mooguesque than the others, maybe that's what you're looking for. All of them run on Atom-class netbooks.
