Best VSTis for under $100?

Off the top of my head - Z3ta+, Tone2 Firebird. I think Z3ta 1.5 is in Computer Music magazine, so the cost of the magazine plus the upgrade to v2 and you have money left over. You might even decide you like v1.5 and not upgrade - even more money left over.
Is there a price filter on the VST search function? I think it's only paramters are Free/Pay/Shareware. That would be nice, but tough to keep up with.
There's many choices.
My advice: Demo everything first, then make your decision.

Maybe Alchemy alone ( Second hand dont know if its under 100 though )
Battery ( Second hand or with Ni promos, crossgrades, upgrades etc )
Aar reverb ( second hand rather rare to find )
NI player, Alchemy Player ( free )
+ All the others I forgot
Loads of freeware, some are unique and very brilliant, while some others can get you fixed to cover this or that area while waiting for some more advanced "commercial" stuff.
There are indeed tons of nice musical instruments and Fx in this price range
Also take a look at group buys or promos : Sytrus cant be reselled but its a very nice piece of a synth when IL makes promos for example.

+1. At this price it's a steal. I'm surprised it's not getting more love on KVR.xamido wrote:FAW Circle is now only 69$. Really good and easy to use.

I googled and found that z3ta+ v1 was in CM back in october, does anyone know if it's still bundled? I've had some interest in this synth but I can't even seem to find a demo on cakewalk's site, not blind buying it even though I have heard great things from itosiris wrote:Off the top of my head - Z3ta+, Tone2 Firebird. What puzzles me is that noone ever seems to mention Atlantis.
(IMO criminally overlooked.)
Conceptual Highlights:
+ Highly versatile thanks to its (modulatable) wave-morphing capabilities
+ True Stereo signal path / Width, Phase, Spread, Chorus options per-OSC
+ Multi Segment Envelope Generators with 32 automatable breakpoints each
+ Tons of filter models including Low, High, Band, Notch, Peak, Formant, SID
+ Special 'Harmonic' variations of filters
+ Total of 4 filters + shaper + delay / various ser./par. routing options
+ 2 Value-Combiner / amount adjustable
+ OSC2 and 3 syncable to OSC1
+ Phaser, Flanger, Chorus, Vibrato, Downsampler, AM RingMod
+ Limiter, Distortion, Remapper, Compressor, Octaver, Reverb, Pan
+ Modulators/Filters per-voice or global
+ All sliders modulatable (pos. and neg.)
+ Arpeggiator with or without envelope retrig
+ Option to load your own waves into the OSCs
+ Can sound both modern and oldschool, (think minimoog, Juno, etc.), and with that green 3rd-party skin (i guess it was by Limeflavour) it looks pretty decent too.
Its only downside is pretty much only the implementation of the envelope breakpoints, which dont snap-to-scale even though the scale itself is BPM synced. (Pity.) Because of that it requires some patience to create rhytmical ENV modulations that stay BPM-synced, especially since there is no numerical readout for the breakpoint positions either. But aside from that it is one heck of a synthesizer that allows you to create sounds for practically every purpose one can think of.

Just go to kvr market forum section. For 100 $ you can buy a lot of "big" stuff. NI FM8 usually goes for around 85 $. If you rise your budget by about 20-25 $ you may buy Sylenth.
For brand new synths I would pick:
- FAW Circle
- Image-Line Toxic Biohazard
- Korg M1 & Wavestation - great if you're into "older" sounds
- Vember Audio Surge
- Schwa Olga
- Synthmaster
all below 100 $

Too bad you didn't ask this question back in December when I bought FxSpansion's
"Synth Squad" for $100.00. Strobe, Amber and Cyphers are great and what Fusor can do with them is pretty interesting(the four come together in this bundle)
At first I didn't think I would of paid the full $250.00 price. But after using them for a couple months, can live without it. Also too bad you missed the No-brainer special or Z3ta+1 for 20 bucks. Also but not what you are after I picked up FX's "Geist" for $150.00 instead of $250.0.
Seeing a pattern here?
As suggested be on the look out for these special and no-brainers that pop up all the time. This is how I discovered the above prices for this software.
I use the above and it is not because of the price, I was just fortunate to be
aware of them and had the cash on hand.and don't have many more VSti's I use
now as I have weeded them out. Oh I forgot to Mention Wusik Station. Great for ambient, sound track stuff although you can get some musical Va kind of sounds.
I use it a lot as well. For what it can do the price is well worth it. Seems like they always have some promo going on so it can be had from around 40-50 I think. So my advise would be several considerations. 1. Save for something that goes over your budget but after you took the time to download and demo some of the suggested ones that are above of your price range.2. Check out the ones in your budget suggested here and consider each one.3. Have your plastic ready when
some outrageous deal pops up

MuLab.
Well this is a DAW but you can build your own monster synths and effects etc. in it beside the ones already build in.
Oscillators, filters and audio engine are exceptional in audio quality.
There is a free version and up to Unlimited version for 75 EUR.
Just a different option.....

The NuSofting/Dash Signature is worth mentioning. I particularly like EMM Knagalas (an Ethnic Instrument Sampler) and Peti (Harmonium/Accordion).
Since you mentioned psychedelia, Martinic has a couple of nice freeware organs:
Combo V & Combo F if you're into the sixties organ sounds.

Stretch to $149 for the PC Synth Bundle and get Rapture, DimPro and Z3TA+2 together; that's less than $50 each; you'll be busy for a long, long time with some extremely high-quality, usable, and mature synths. IMHO.
