They recently released an update to the Receptor tools. Are you using the 2012 version? i have problems with it, still (crashing), but it did connect at least once.

This update is for the Windows side of things. It's the software that runs on Windows to let you view your Receptor over the network.MassiveDubstep wrote:How am I able to update without the receptors hard drive mounted?

You might need this:
Receptor Tools for Windows XP, Vista & Windows 7
http://www.museresearch.com/downloads/r ... 06_Win.zip
Unless you already have this version. This is NOT the Receptor OS/system software.

I can confirm that I have this update. The receptor does connect but I can not mount the drive to install the updated os..Jace-BeOS wrote:This update is for the Windows side of things. This is what I am looking for only i'd like to see instructions for windows 7 64 bit instead of the very out of date win xp?? I still am unable to mount Receptors hard drive..
I receive a failed to kill process **** - error code 3 every time I "show drive" in the muse remote control..
I feel I should have spent the money on more uad 2 equipment..

I hear you. They only released this fix this year. How long has 64-bit Windows been commonly in use by musicians now? How long has Receptor been on the market? Sigh and groan.MassiveDubstep wrote:I can confirm that I have this update. The receptor does connect but I can not mount the drive to install the updated os..

i experience the same problem, too. i keep trying it and eventually it works. The first time i experienced this error was because i had to restart my Receptor to remove plugins. Windows is pretty grouchy about network resources coming and going and the Receptor tools are a really piss poor setup, IMO. But it's working for me enough times to sit here using it. Normally i ignore the thing because of how frustrating it is to work with linked to a PC. Today i saw talk about it on the forum, so i checked out the Receptor downloads and found the updated Receptor Tools. That lead me to my current task of trying to put my less used VSTs on my Receptor and off my PC DAW. A few more crashes and failed plugins and i'll turn it off and ignore it again.MassiveDubstep wrote:I still am unable to mount Receptors hard drive..

i hear you. i regret spending the money on my Receptor. It's been utterly useless as a studio device with a PC. Uniwire is crap. The remote software is crap. The Receptor GUI is crap. Etc. My last attempt to use this thing will be to treat it like a racked synth and stop trying to use it with a computer except for management.MassiveDubstep wrote:I feel I should have spent the money on more uad 2 equipment..

Just to let you know what my setup is, since i get the drive mounted about 80% of the time:
Receptor 1 [Edit: revision B], connected to my PC via crossover Ethernet (direct cable to the PC), as an "unidentified" network, in Public mode (according to Windows Networking and Sharing) running Windows Vista SP2 64-bit. When i was on Windows XP 32-bit, i don't remember having as many failures to connect, but i wasn't on XP for long after getting the Receptor. There were a lot of changes to Windows networking starting in Vista. If you have a spare Ethernet port on your computer, and if you have a crossover cable (or adapter), you might want to try that instead of dealing with hubs.

I have tried connecting through both crossover and hubs... I now am trying to connect with winscp but am still falling short. http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=148166Jace-BeOS wrote:Just to let you know what my setup is, since i get the drive mounted about 80% of the time:

Anyone able to use winscp to view receptors hard drive?

Fixed it.... Problem lied within "msconfig"... Looks like I had a couple iphelper processes turned off.
run msconfig. Reconfigure your services. Fixed.
Cannot believe it took me this long to figure out. This is my production laptop... I configured it to run best with my daw.

MassiveDubstep:
Thanks for pointing that out, we'll make a knowledge base article about it. Just out of curiosity what article were people pointing out as old and out of date on the knowledge base?
The manual connection to hard drives bit should still be valid and workable for windows Vista and 7.

I am unsure of the link as of now. I will check my browser history and see if I can find it.Kevin@MuseResearch wrote:MassiveDubstep:

(windows 7 64bit) One thing that seems to help lose the error messages with the muse remote control is changing the compatibility properties. I changed mine to run with win xp (service pack 3)
