Urs wrote:Here are the most requested improvements

- gui preserves look & subpages when closed & opened again
- gui remembers presets and their location
- lfo sync not only to host tempo but may also run in seconds/hertz
- on Win, presets & resources can also be kept in Vstplugins dir
- preset changes via midi, cursor keys
- global effects off switch (i.e. having them off when switching presets)
- on Win, don't forget location on Midimap file
- fold back VST reset to standard procedures (avoiding cpu spikes). No workaround for buggy hosts no more

I'll slowly make my way through them...

ok, more:

- lfo wave view + feedback on all waveforms
- more intelligent text truncation and/or bigger boxes
- colours... something with colours...
Hi Urs,
I just brought a full copy of Diva and its a great plugin.
Is there any chance that the filters and Oscillators from an Oberheim Matrix 12 and Ob8/OBXa be added to Diva in the future as I have recently purchased an Oberheim SEM plug in for Mac OSX from another plugin developer that seems to a lot of issues with sync in Logic pro.
Although the Sonic Projects Plugin is good, I really wanted an Audiounits plugin not a bridged Stand alone.
One last thing, am I being silly? as I can't find an arpeggiator on diva.

Thank you for you time.

Regards

Jamie

Filter input gain too, but not 100% certain yet.
Awesome! Thanks! :D

We have two OB-X (circuit of SEM, but digital programmer) and a Matrix12. Chances are good, but time is on low supply at the moment. We'll know more in a few months.

We're waiting for Multicore support to happen (or definately ditched) before doing arps/sequencers/mod matrices or anything else related to voice-level add-ons. It's a difficult matter.

a typical va oscilator section with phase reset and adjustment gets asked many times and i don't see it on the list. i hope the idea hasn't been shelved.
for example a zebra generator module (let's say 3 oscillators) could be thrown in and make it a lot more versatile .
to be honest i'd gladly upgrade to zebra if the new filters (including the feedback adjustment knob!) get added to it and if there was a decent upgrade price.

I'd really like a gain knob before the filters so they can be cranked into overdrive! Or alternatively, a master volume control on each of the oscillator models that allows a good level of pre-filter boost.

Sorry for the OT!

+1

I also would love to see volume sliders for the sawtooth and square based components of the DCO. I know that'd be a drastic break from tradition, but due to their nature, square/pulse based sounds always seem a lot louder than sawtooth ones, and I find it hard to get a pleasing mix between the two.

Well, the original Improvements list is fairly old. I solved pretty much all the itchy stuff.

Oscillator Phase reset is tricky as I explained, but maybe not impossible.

Diva-style Feedback in the Mixer section however isn't possible within Zebra. Due to its flexible nature there is no way the feedback can be taken from behind the VCA module without latency. This is only possible in fixed architecture synths, or in software like Reaktor which operates on a sample-per-sample basis (but which can't possibly process the complexity of the filter though)

However, filters with delayless resonance aka zero delay feedback are of course doable in Zebra and will happen in a few months time.

Cheers,

;) Urs

i read in previous pages that a "digital" oscillator module (with reset etc) could have been thrown in ....has this idea been put aside or is it still a real possibility for the near future?

Any update on Multicore support? My only criticism of Diva is not being able to get enough of it :D It would be amazing to be able to spread voices over cores (I think my i7 has 6!)

DIVA needs XY controllers, or macros SO extremely bad!
including a lag on them aswell

127 midi steps is not enough for this high quality synth, and you need a layer between the actual knobs and midi learn to prevent controller fader chaos.

aswell as presets are 100 time more interresting if you have something to instantly play with that gives good results

this stands between this synth beeing good or beiing an industry standard.

forget the rest, as this cant be too hard or cpu heavy.

This time about Zebra :wink::
For Zebra are available thousands presets and sometimes searching of appropriated preset in browser could be hard. Zebra browser based on real folders is flexible solution, because user can organize his presets in easy way. However, sometimes I feel it has missed some advanced filtering features. Recently I purchased SynthMaster and it has very useful browser. User can filter contents by author, category (e.g. arps, pads, leads, etc.), genre (e.g. ambient, jazz, etc.) and all those filtering options could be used together. Of course, this solution requires adding appropriated tags/info to presets. What do you think about adding similar solution to Zebra? For example, you could keep current folder based browser and add to this browser filters based on author, category, etc, with flat view of filter results. However implementing of this functionality requires including those items to saved presets.

Janusz

is the steiner filter contemplated?
i heard a freqsteiner (eurorack) and it's really lovely and distinctive on the resonance and would compliment well the current filters in Diva . it's a multimode filter so it covers also much ground.
an oberheim filter and a steiner filter then all the main filter divas i think would be covered.

for the oscillator or sound generator i would really love the addition of a 1) waveshaping/sampler oscillator section (putting waveforms through analog filters as heard on fairchilds, esq1s, ppgs etc or more recently on q+ and spectralis)....and 2) an fm operator generator section with the EXACT sound of the yamaha's (and then putting that PM generated tone through analog filters wow)!)....and 3) a standard high quality VA oscilattor with reset phase adjustments etc.....and also a coffee machine. :hihi:

But of course!

Everything else: Time will tell...

One of the coolest things about the Steiner filter, is that there are independent in puts for LP, BP and HP (on the Frequensteiner you can only access one input at a time via a three-way switch, but it can be modded to bring all the inputs to the front panel). If you patch different signals to the three inputs and then sweep the cutoff it results in this crazy morphing/blending sound.

Just some food for thought. :hihi:
