I use a Lexicon I.ONIX U82S desktop recording studio on MIDI Port 1. This controls 4 of my 5 synths via standard MIDI jacks. My Waldorf Blofeld, MKP Mini and Casio Piano, however, are connected to my Mac via USB (since my ESQ1 and Blofeld lack MIDI Thru capabilities and the Casio and MPK have no MIDI ports at all) and assigned to MIDI port 2, 3 and 4, respectively.

In MU:LAB 3 I just used to create a few MIDI outputs and select the port for each by double clicking it.

Now, in MU:LAB 4, I drag the MIDI Output to the track area and it defaults to Port 1. I have yet to find a way to choose a different port!

I know you can attach a track to a rack and then send event data from the rack to the correct output, but the second I add a module to the rack, it blocks all event data from reaching the MIDI Output.

Is there something I'm missing?
Do you chip-tune?

The fact that adding a module in a rack blocks event thruput depends on the module. Most synth plugins/modules indeed wont thru the events they receive.

About targetting the different MIDI ports:

For M4.0, it's explained here: http://www.mutools.com/mulab/docs/quest ... swers.html

For M4.1, the explicit MIDI output has become obsolete.
For MIDI output, now simply create event outputs in the Session MUX.
The first event out will go to MIDI port 1, the 2nd to MIDI port 2 etc.

The MIDI output strategy has changed twice in short time. I apologize for that.
It should be easy to update your MIDI session to the newest method. I'm confident the newest method is a long-term one and easy to use.
