How Do Bans Work?

I haven't had access to KVR since 07 Feb until today, 11 Mar. I assume I was banned but nobody bothered to let me know and it seems an odd, arbitrary length of time to have no access. All I've been getting is a screen with "Critical Information" and "NULL", which is hardly illuminating. So tell me, how do you expect sheeple to behave as you wish them to if you don't bother to let them know when they have transgressed and what it was exactly that they did? It makes bans seem personal and capricious. I also think it is one thing to ban someone from the forum but I've not been able to access any part of KVR, which seems a little excessive, don't you think?
