Update-16 March-
After watching Tutorial #46 and adding some stuff, I got a pretty good 303 style bass. Whatcha' think?

Here is the suggested less reverb.

A test, XYs assigned. Being played with my mouse. I have no XY controller, any ideas about a good one?

I'll upload the patch, sometime this week. Thanks :)

bump 303 at top!

Post

the low notes sound quite reasonable imho

the high ones a bit thin but just listening the mp3 on bad speakers
sound is vibration, vibration is life

Post

Now why do you populate with notes way high when sounds like this sound awesome down low? :P

Try a bit less reverb or no reverb at all on these sounds also, at least my opinion.

Thanks for checking it guys :)

Here is the suggested "less/ no reverb" Yes, 3ee, better with less reverb :tu:

rsmus7, I'm afraid, it may not be your speakers, this could use much improvement but I agree, the low notes are the best :)

Thanks again to our Zebra Sensei, Howard, for the great video tuts! :)

hmmm. I'm not sure about these.

I mean this is the nicest possible way but... that doesn't sound like 303 ... not even slightly. Sorry

No need to apologize, the opinion, positive and negative, is one of the points of kvr. The more I listen to the last one I posted, I 'm thinking, yeah, thats not it. But I'd disagree about the fist one I posted. I think that one is getting close but still not there. But still a ways off. Thanks for the input and feel free to post any opinion, I do like the feed back, whether good or bad.

Maybe you were going for an effected 303 sound rather than the vanilla "obvious" 303 we all know and love ? I suppose I was just expecting a hardfloor sound or something else "classic". The sound in it's self is ok, slightly clearer less effected would be cool unless you are going for a really mashed up sound. Hope I didn't come off as too much of an ass.

BTW you can get a pretty damn good "classic" 303 from Diva (I bought it last night) by just applying the restrictions/characteristics of the original...positive env mod only, use decay/sustain not attack, saw waves and pulse only. It helps to use an extra key position mod in place of the LFO 2 mod to get extra control as the cutoff can disappear to unuseable frequencies with some envelope settings.

Drawback is that the controls on Diva go much further than the old 303 so it's tricky to edit and keep a decent sound, if we had an XY like on zebra I think you could program minimum and maximum values ? Of course I don't know whether you have Diva. :D

Cool! I only have the last beta but I'll certainly give it a shot. XYs would be great for Diva :)

The thing I was after is something close but not exact. D16's Phoscyon is my reference but I know I'm still waaay off. But its a fun learning experience :)

As far the critique, nah, your good mate. I can usually tell when someone is trying to be not nice. Its all good.

Also I think I used the DCO, ADS envelopes and the Ladder filter, I found these most effective for a classic sound but obviously the others all lend somrthing different but good to it
