I had some difficulties to map zebra2 to a midi controller.
I use Zebra2.5.2 with the Original skin.
I use the Nocturne Novation with the software Automap 4.3.
The good thing with Automap is that it analyse the VST and gets a list of available (mappable) parameters.
For instance: with OSC 1 I can choose to map "WNum" to one of my controller's knobs so I can control the "Wave" knob.
Another example: with OSC 1 I can choose to map "WPSrc" to one of my controller's knobs so I can browse the list of available modulator I want to assign to my Wave.
Last example: with OSC 1 I can choose to map "WPDpt" to one of my controller's knobs so I can set the value of the modulation (when a modulator is selected).
I found some issues that I have listed below.
OSC:
- Choosing between single, double, quad or eleven cannot be assigned to my midi controller.
- The same with invert, Sync and reset.
- It is not possible to switch between the section Phase, FX and Mixer via a midi controller.
For instance, I wanted to activate the Osc FX panel with a button on my controller and it was not possible.
VCF:
- Choosing the cutoff's or the res's modulator can not be mapped to a midi controller.
It seem that Automap was not able to detect an action for the modulator of the cutoff and Res.
At the beginning I gave an exemple with "WPSrc" and "WPDpt" and it seems that the "VCF_Cutoff_Src" does not exist.
But the action "VCF_Cutoff_Dpt" exists and it is called FM1!
LFO:
Choosing the wave type cannot be assigned to my midi controller.
The Amp, Rate, Phase knob in Zebra are not assignable! but the Delay is.
I stopped my experimentation here.
-> Can you tell me why Automap is able to find the action of some knobs, but not all of them.
I think Automap is a great solution to be able to map a synthesizer as modular as Zebra2.
-> In addition, I was not able to map the action of browsing the modulators list of the "OSC1 wave control" using the "midiLearn" function of Zebra2 but automap was able to propose this functionnality.
I hope to hear from you soon
