I'm just finding Diva so playable that I just get lost in one patch for a hour, not doing anything but solo playing, this morning it was the Analog Clavinova patch with the delay turned on. The keyboard response is just so good, I'm not that subtle of a player but it makes even my playing sound so nuanced and sweet, anyhow I'm wondering what it is about Diva, why is she so pretty? Most other synths I just end up going through patch after patch but with Diva I get stuck just on one and get lost in the beautiful sound. Why is Diva so 'different'?

I feel like many other software synths are sound generators but Diva is a 'real' instrument, like it has physical presence and so much character.

Diva is so pliable because she's limber and willing... so easy to coax beautiful moans and sighs out of her...

...oh, you said "playable". Well, it's because of the frighteningly realistic, zero-delay wooden panelling, of course. And don't forget the analogue-modelled LED colour knob.

Better quit while I'm ahead. ;)

edit - wrong thread...

Yeah it must be the 'wood' paneling :P

A lot of softsynths make great 'trance' sounds but Diva makes really 'acoustic' sounding, 'analog' sounds as well. I don't even know much about trance myself, so I don't know if it fits the bill for that style with no arp, but anyhow for what I do it is exactly the right fit where many other softsynths rarely excite me bin the same way.

With DIVA it's not the 1.0 increments that yield new sound, it's the .1 and even the .01 increments.

It seems to me DIVA just has the processing power, stronger and more precise algorithms maybe, to really let the individual elements (the LFO's, filters and envelopes for example) work on the sound.

There are new sounds everywhere and everything is so responsive. You cannot move a control by 0.5 and it not make a real difference to the sound.

This is why I feel it is so playable. It is so easy to make it "breath", to really move. I think there is just so much going on under the hood that the sound is constantly in motion, this catches the ear and captivates. That is why you can play one patch for so long.

It is also gigantic sounding. The effects are totally outstanding and make no small contribution to the the lively, full and pleasant sound.
