Yes I'm using a Nvidia GeForce 210 graphics card. I've tried to reproduce this using other software, (Guitar Rig and Reaktor), but there are no CPU spikes at all.
Regarding the multiparameter glitches, that was a problem in Reaper which I've sorted now. I set MXXX to 'save minimal undo states'.

Just checked. No spiking (and no onboard graphics) here. Even with active Antivirus and net downloads in the background.Satch1 wrote:Yes I'm using a Nvidia GeForce 210 graphics card. I've tried to reproduce this using other software, (Guitar Rig and Reaktor), but there are no CPU spikes at all.

Ok thanks mate. I'm not sure why I'm getting such big increases (as much as 20-25% of a Quad core CPU). Like Vojtech says, CPU increase is normal, but this seems quite high. I have just tested scrolling through a busy Reaper project though (about 50 tracks of audio), and there was about a 15% increase, so it's definitely not just MXXX that's doing it. Anyway I thought I'd bring it up because I'd never noticed this behaviour before. Maybe there's someway I can improve it? Otherwise, I'm sure I'll be able to get on alright.

An example of very high CPU when using a modulator on the "color" control of the distortion module.
MXXX with only the distortion module = 4% in reaper
Add a follower on the color control of the distorion = 10% CPU
Now turn on the gate on the distortion module = 14% cpu
Tends to get quite glitchy.
It's strange because multiband distortion does not take that much cpu at all with the same modulation on the color control !

Well after your post i started from a new patch and rechecked everything, it turned out i was missing something.
It's the combination of the above + a feedback loop with zero delay that was causing the very high cpu load.
It turns out even when disabling and deleting the feedback module, the cpu stays high until i close MXXX, that's why i missed it !

Aaaha, now that's interesting! Ok, I'll check the feedback thing
.
With the scrolling, it really depends on many things, but it should never block the audio processing, so technically it doesn't really matter.
