Logic 9.1.7 and delay compensation

My project started showing problems with delay compensation, whenever I put in MAutoVolume (32bit) and specify the side chain. The track get delayed quite a lot.
I feel that it might be tied to 'look-ahead' as well, as I usually turn that up to 50%.
I believe this is a problem with Logic, as I am getting same problems with Drumagog but perhaps they changed something in the engine that the plugins need to adapt to...
Anyone else seeing this in 9.1.7?
Do you know where 9.1.6 can be downloaded from? They used to have links to all previous versions on apple.com but now it's only latest and 9.1.

This may seem a little harsh, but I have to say that Logic really isn't very reliable host... Problems with latency compensation are pretty common. From what you describe it is really about Logic, because you just changed routing. Also the latency caused by lookahead here is very small and is not reported. Anyway you can check by setting the lookahead to 0%, then if you have any delay whatsoever, it is definitely because of Logic. But also note the upsampling - if you enable upsampling (>1x), save your project and reload it, the plugin reports some latency (about 10ms I'd say, not sure) and that's what you may hear.

Thanks, I will give that a try.
I also noticed that this seems to depend on buffer settings. Things go pretty bad at 1024 but are relatively ok at 128.

Logic's Busses are not pdcompensated when used as a sidechain source which is a PITA, try using an audio track as the sidechain source instead...

OMG, you are right. The bus signal is not compensated.
I tried changing look-ahead to 0%, restarting and no change. Then Changed sidechain from bus to audio track and that did it.
It really is a PITA, since mAutoVolume can use sidechain of all music instruments to ride the vocal.
That means I would need to bounce the instruments, load it up as a track and side chain off of that.
Anyway, thanks for the help.

Well, no place to discuss hosts... Anyway as far as I know Vocal rider actually has latency (at least once I was checking it out, it was there, I was pretty surprised to see it there though...). Don't know why, maybe some buffering based algorithm... Well, I'm glad MAutoVolume is latency free
(at least without look-ahead obviously)

Well, actually I have problems with Logic (especially the PDC) here all the time and I don't have the newest version. I have also heard about lots of problems. And I had to "hack" Logic problems many times, so sorry, but I kind of know what I'm talking about. Yes, most of it is caused by the buggy Mac OS, but Logic needs to be blamed too as it too often behaves different to any other host. Anyway let's finish this and focus on some useful stuff
.

So, here it is 2022 and I'm on Logic Pro 10.7.5 (most recent) on a silicon Mac running OS 12.6.1 and... I ran into the same problem where using side chain with a bus causes the track to be out of sync with the other tracks. Might someone have figured out a work around – other than bouncing the other tracks to an audio track – in the last 10 years?

...fwiw...the short answer is "nope"...there have been some "fixes" and "work arounds" posted over on the LPx forums so you will have to pursue a solution over there...hth.../s~
