Anyone tried this yet? I'm trying to drive the Blue Cat plugin with a separate MIDI track but it doesn't seem to work. Do I have to have a h/w MIDI controller, or is there a way to make the MIDI track drive the plugin?

We haven't tried with this host yet, but have you enabled MIDI input for the plug-in parameters you want to control? This is available either in the presets settings widow, or by clicking on the "Show MIDI & Automation Settings" in the new version (the button on the right in the image below):

MIDI is enabled. I have set the Channel and CC to 0 and 0 and hit "Learn" which causes the channel number to change to 2, and CC to 121. (No other MIDI devices on my PC) But with a MIDI track that is playing a repeated note, I don't see any gain behavior that mimics the MIDI track. Any suggestions what settings I should try for a separate MIDI track on Mixcraft?Blue Cat Audio wrote:We haven't tried with this host yet, but have you enabled MIDI input for the plug-in parameters you want to control? The plug-in currently supports only MIDI CC messages for now (not note on/note off messages), so it means that a MIDI track with only notes on it will not trigger gain changes.
In your case maybe you can use the audio generated by the synth using this MIDI track and apply the Digital Peak Meter Pro plug-in to it to measure the level, and then connect it to the gain plug-in. This way the gain plug-in would exactly mimic the levels of the synth track.
Does it make sense? Can you give us more details about what you are trying to achieve?

Thanks - that makes a lot of sense. The effect I'm trying to achieve can be heard here at 3seconds in:Blue Cat Audio wrote:The plug-in currently supports only MIDI CC messages for now (not note on/note off messages), so it means that a MIDI track with only notes on it will not trigger gain changes.

I was hoping to use a drum MIDI track to drive a staccato effect on a vocals track.

Using the Digital Peak Meter Pro plug-in and the free Gain Suite you can achieve the same effect with an audio drum track instead of a MIDI one.
The concept is explained in this voice over tutorial. In your case, the voice track is the drum track (used a a ducking source), and the target track is probably the voice. If you want a fast staccato effect like the one in your sample, you will probably want short attack and release times.
The tutorial is a bit old, but I hope this helps!
