Hello,
Do you know another daw, like Tracktion with the vst at the right of the track ?

I've read more than a few statements about various DAWs being a good option for Tracktion users wishing to move on. I feel like I've tried everything except Protools and Logic and nothing works for me like the trusty Tracktion. Unfortunately Tracktion needs to scan ever time it starts to see Waves plugins so I'm try to learn to be friends with Reaper. It's pretty different but for some reason it seems intuitive for me and that is the thing I liked about Tracktion. Everything is where I expect it to be.

I'm trying to work with Reaper since two years.
It's not the same feeling.

Well that's pretty much what I was trying to say. Since I starting thinking Tracktion would not always be there I started looking at other options. I bought Sonar X1 and it is not for me. Tried to get back into Cubase and couldn't do it. FLStudio is good for electronic stuff but I don't dig the audio recording side of things. Podium, Studio One. Even looked at Reason/Record. Reaper is the next best bet for me but certainly not a replacement as far as workflow goes (for me that is).

you can use this tool to stop tracktion from scanning waves plugins. it is free. http://www.xlutop.com/buzz/. on that page, click on "more downloads" on the left sidebar. you will see a program called "shell2vst.zip". it is simple and shows all waves vst's in your filter section. no more scanning.morelia wrote:...Unfortunately Tracktion needs to scan ever time it starts to see Waves plugins...

I felt the same way; when I begrudgingly abandoned T3 (for stability issues) everyone seemed to be moving to Reaper. I tried it and never really got on with the workflow. Ended up happily using live 8.Daniel Pompougnac wrote:I'm trying to work with Reaper since two years.

I do use that because it helps to see what I've got installed but unfortunately it makes no difference to the issue with Tracktion.Sarina wrote:you can use this tool to stop tracktion from scanning waves plugins. it is free. http://www.xlutop.com/buzz/. on that page, click on "more downloads" on the left sidebar. you will see a program called "shell2vst.zip". it is simple and shows all waves vst's in your filter section. no more scanning.morelia wrote:...Unfortunately Tracktion needs to scan ever time it starts to see Waves plugins...

Because Tracktion is so important to Waves, they decided to eliminate the Ilok...morelia wrote:I do use that because it helps to see what I've got installed but unfortunately it makes no difference to the issue with Tracktion.Sarina wrote:you can use this tool to stop tracktion from scanning waves plugins. it is free. http://www.xlutop.com/buzz/. on that page, click on "more downloads" on the left sidebar. you will see a program called "shell2vst.zip". it is simple and shows all waves vst's in your filter section. no more scanning.morelia wrote:...Unfortunately Tracktion needs to scan ever time it starts to see Waves plugins...

I moved to Reaper as well, but it never felt as good as Tracktion, so I didn't buy it. But I'm left with nothing (I know all the others will be worse than Reaper, and the next best thing might be Ableton Live, but too expensive).
I really miss the days I recorded with T2. I haven't checked the news about T3. Is it dead? Is it still as glitchy? Is Mackie investing into it, is there a future for Tracktion?
