I own a Samsung Galaxy S2 and at this point several GREAT music creation apps exist for it: Caustic 2, SunVox, TapeMachine and Su-Preme MPA. There are around 8 more apps in this level of quality but the four aforementioned are the most useable production apps for my needs.
I utilize samples from vinyl records extensively in my muaical works, and though you can get surpricingly good results from experimenting with recording a loudspeaker with your smartphone's front or back mic, I still really miss a way to record audio 'directly' into the Android via a digital signal path - or digital/analog. As long as its the original signal beinf transfered through phono cable, wifi or USB cable. Which means no fuzzy 3rd generation recording-sampling
Here are some suggestions:
- a turntable playing connected to a PC with a server program installed that sends the recorded signal to a client app on the Android phone via wi-fi (or maybe bluetooth). Of course this method ought to be fully functionally by using only Android client app (which hasrecord button, etc. - would be cool to see integrated into TapeMachine or Audio Evolution which are the only two REALLY serious audio editors) and the turntable itself (putting on the needle basically). The PC server program should only be a gateway. This would of course require user to setup the server, but this only has to be done once. Would this be a realistic solution?
- even more direct: a USB turntable connected directly to the micro USB port of the smartphone. Is this currently possible?
- in relation to the first suggestion, TapeMachine 2 has recently been released and one of the news was the ability to record I put from bluetooth devices. So I'm wondering if such a thing as bluetooth CD players (or even bluetooth turntables) exist? Then, theorethically, TM should be able to record their input. But has anyone seen such devices? Or better yet, has anyone tried this? Also if TM can record the signal from bluetooth devices now, then it shouldn't be too hard for a programmer to make a server program for PC (with bluetooth) that can send audio signal to Android phone?
Is any of this feasible or realistic? Other ideas?
Thanks in advance for a constructive discussion and exchange of ideas.
