Multitimbral VSti ( kontakt 8/16 out ) using a soundmodule in Mulab?

Using a multitimbral Vsti in MUlab and recording tracks is possible.
But using the Multitimbral Vsti as a soundmodule seems to be not possible?
I am still puzzling how to setup a multi Vsti for using as a soundmodule in MUlab and connect the soundmodule with a composer (loopbackdriver)

The composer has 8 tracks and they must routed(loopbackdriver)to 8 tracks in Mulab..
I like to see in Mulab 8 tracks of the assigned instruments of th e composer
In the composer i can choose the MIDI direct channels 1 to 8 ( direct adressing)
Seems to be a simple task to connect this Composer and Mulab, but i don't have found yet the right workflow for setting this up.

Suppose i do this in Cubase it goes without any problem this setup and it seems to me that the focus procedure ( chancing a racksound for keybouard )is not necessary as i understand it.

Must do this also with one VSti in a rack and add subtracks for the midichannels, but than you get one output for audio ( again i must study the video for a multi VSti, but with the updates of Mulab i don't know what is possible more now? )

I already answered this question here: http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... 83#4901583

If you want to use the multi-outs of Kontakt, then plugin Kontakt in the Session MUX, not in a rack. In the Session MUX you'll see all outputs of Kontakt and you can connect them to whatever you want. You could, for example, connect them to a bunch of racks, and so you'll have a rack for each output of Kontakt ;)

Thanks! Yes you did now i must figure this out how it works exactly.

For both setups (composing in MUlab/-or external composer..Mulab acts as a host for a soundmodule) of the MUlti Vst i must assign also multi-outs in a session MUX to get a rack for every output of Kontakt. :)
Probably again a another setup that i did with the "subtracks setup"?..no subtracks?

Here it's done in the Session Mux for 2 VSTi:

Just drag the connected racks to the relevant tracks, adjust the midi channel of the tracks and you are ready to go.

Thanks Andreas but it seems that i cannot follow your setup..that big kontakt4 module with all these connections? ..please give the complete sessionMUX image
with your step by step workflow of how to set this up...otherwise it makes no sense for me.
I do have a kontakt 5 16out Rack it has a audio output 1 connector and 6 audio sends.

Let me that take a startingpoint for this setup, because i cannot dechiper your picture.
Subtracks using or not?
Ok i add ( add module..Kontakt 5 16 out) in the session MUX 8 times, while at start Mulab has one rack
Oh the added kontakt module in the sessionMux has now other connections too..11 and one of these i must connect to a midi channel?

Note: i can remenber from a another DAW that when you installed a Multi Vsti that a message popping up: multi outs ..routing( something like that)
Perhaps a idea for Mulab to automater this for the user to setup a multi Vsti?

I'll try to make a short movie. Give me a bit time....
I have to get my Kontakt sorted as well. It's somehow messed up with the outputs.
Talk soon

Hi janamdo,

Here is a quick and dirty movie how to setup Kontakt with 3 instruments to 3 independent M4 racks.
Everything is happening in the Session MUX.
It's more about the Kontakt setup than the Mulab. At least it was for me. I finally understood the the logic in Kontakt.
I used the 8 out Kontakt to keep things easy.

And please don't mind the audio, i didn't setup a nice tune. :)

Don't put it in a rack, put it in the MUX directly.

Great job you did Andreas!, because i connected also the Kontakt 5 to 2 independent racks.
This routing logic in Kontakt i have overlooking in the past and it explains now why it not was working in the past..great.

Finally solved and indeed as @pljones said, start in the MUX by adding module: VST instruments.
This setup is more complicated than in the Mulab video about multi VST and add the internal routing logic of Kontakt 5 extra to it.

This is a setup in Mulab where Kontakt5 acts as a internal soundmodule and now for me to use Kontakt 5 in a another setup with a external composer.
So what can i use from this internal setup for the external setup with a loopbackdriver?
Now i must connect the midi channels from the composer ( loopbackdriver) to the midi channels in Mulab probably?

Note
Kontakt 5 8 out = 4 midi channels
Kontakt 5 16 out = 8 midi channels

I can only guess with the loopback driver, but i would propose the following:
1) Activate the loopback driver as midi in (midi preference)
2) Setup the "Edit Midi Input Channel" (M4.1.14 name change!) as follows

This works with a keyboard with different midi channels.

Hi Andreas thanks..finally it works and your 2 options where the solution.
(But i was also close to it ;))
Yes finally it works i get the Kontakt sounds in the external composer
Your video is very helpful to understand exactly how it must be done.

This workflow is than..
I must routed the Kontakt5 Vsti to the racks in de sessionMUX and activate the loopbackdriver and Edit Midi Input Channel on the instrumentstracks of the composer
Also connect the Midi channels from the composer with the midi channels of Mulab.
In fact i must make a device setup for songs composed with the external composer and Mulab
This opens also the way to connect MUlab as external soundmodule with other composingprograms, because i do want also composing with real notes ( score)
