It is 40 USD - You can buy directly from Zero G at 35 USD (i.e. you don't need to pay the VAT if outside the EU) http://www.zerogdownload.com/store/product/471/
Whatever you do, don't buy for this link if you live in the UK. Paypal will add an extra £3 in currency conversion - £28.

Buy from this link at £25:

http://www.timespace.com/product/TREX-1 ... dium=email

I just made this mistake! :bang:

EDIT: This is a great sample pack. There are some really useful loops in it. I'm having great fun with it in Reaper. It loads the rex files as slices but you can glue them together as one loop. Well worth £25.
Sorry - I should have made this clearer - Time and Space is cheaper for anyone in the EU (i.e. that have to pay VAT), while Zero G is cheaper for anyone outside the EU (that does not need to pay VAT).

I have imported the whole bundle into Stylus RMX. While the usability varies and as quite alot of styles are available - some appealing to me some not - I consider Total Rex as a rich sample pool you can leverage for various musical styles. I bought it for 150 USD at the time - and I still make use of it. For the current offer you cant go wrong.

cheers
Frank

I also have Total REX in DVD form standing in my bookshelf. Pretty much paid the same back in the day. I got this one to complement Stylus RMX since I still think that the "bundled content" there is just too frisky.

I like most of the content. Especially Jungle Warfare, (Return to) Planet of the Breaks and Koncept & Funktion. Unfortunaltely a lot of the stuff feels outdated, a large focus is on hiphop and certain instruments rather than general beat stuff or DnB. But it's a nice pack to complement StylusRMX. I pretty much always mix and match to my needs.

I wish Zero G would release a v2 of Total REX. So far only Spectrasonics and Nive Volt Audio (with Textural Rex and Beat Aesthetic) offer a similar pack. There need to be more affordable collections like that. Yes, I'm looking at you BestService and ProducerLoops.

Should you get it?
For this price, it's a steal. StylusRMX together with TotalREX and the old Angular Momentum loops in combination are hard to beat. It's even simple to install: Total REX's folders are already laid out for import into StylusRMX.

ZERO G - TOTAL REX

Installer Issues Workaround - Delete Files By Date
Free UVI Workstation - Works Great

Just a note of thanks for the market place tip, I picked up the ZERO-G Total REX. I did it through Time and Space. I got the email download links immediatly. They gave a download utility which didn't work for me but the direct links to the 6 zipped files did.

When I expanded the zipped files, thousands of tiny .rx2 files all under 20kb in size were created along with numerous ._STORE type of extensions. The good files were extracted properly. Those small .rx2 files could not be loaded by Cubase and did not contain any audio data. I could only conclude that they were artifacts of the extraction process.

I used a free app to delete the useless files automatically leaving me with just the actual rx2 files and the PDFs. I kept the zipped downloads just in case I deleted the good stuff by accident. The utility I used was Delete Files By Date it was free, showed no viruses or trojans when I scanned it using antivir.

The trick is to tell the app to check for any files less recent to some arbitrary date in the future ( I set mine to look for files older than august 2012), select the Zero-G Total Rex directory, enable subfolders scanning, you set the filters to scan for any file size smaller than say 20kb (you can also filter by extension). It scans and shows the items in a list. You select all (or you select the individual files if you are nervous about it) and hit delete. It cleaned up the Zero-G Total Rex folder and all the subdirectories beautifully. I took a couple of passes, one pass to get just the small rx2 files, another pass to get the _.DSTORE type of files. Just thought I would pass this along in case someone was frustrated with a messy extraction.

Keep your original zipped files just in case you delete the good stuff by accident and want to start again.

I was Impressed with the free UVI workstation as a rex2 player - great midi export functionality, can play multiple rex loops, transpose by the key, and very simple interface. It is a good marketing tool as well, as I was tempted by the integrated rss feed to check out some of their products which I wouldn't have done otherwise.

Hm, there's almost no overlap with Total Rex - it might indeed be worth a closer look. Any opinions?

I'm guessing they probably won't, but they should give you 20% off of that, because it says "20% off of everything," or do you literally have to buy everything to get the discount? (That last part's a joke, I hope.)

What is Apple loops format, is it audio files plus meta data(I googled but want to be sure), can I use the samples in non Apple software on the PC that can read Aiff format? It looks a good deal if compatible.

It is not 'Apple Loops' in Apple terminology, It is 'Apple Loops' in Zero G terminology which means AIFF files.

Apple Loops are AIFF files, but they do have additional metadata for transient markers and so forth - basically the same as "Acid-ized .WAV files". So the loops will work in any software that supports AIFF files (just about any DAW, I would think), but you'll lose the slice markers and either have to re-create them or trust your DAW to do it right. In most cases that's probably fine.

It appears that there are some pieces of software that can convert Apple Loops to Acid-ized wavs or other formats - something called "Max" on Macs (not the same as MAX/MSP), and possibly Awave on PCs. I suspect there are others if you Google a bit, it's not a very difficult translation.

I can't see this 20% off anywhere. Is there a link?
