Plex - Restructuring Synthesizer

Post

Hi,

I made my another try in OSC.

Song info:
Title: Bumtu - Plex Space Cafe
Host: Ableton Live
Plex instances: 26
DAW FX: EQ, delay, reverb, compressor, limiter
Free FX: Kjaerhus Classic Chorus
and some track volume automation.

I was also fighting crackles on one or more tracks but when recorded waves part by part they are almost all gone. Anyway Plex is specific synth but the more sounds I made with it the more I liked it. :ud: I found its strings and percussive samples useful as a basis for creations of new presets.

Well, I got it from Computer Music magazine's DVD and it said FREE. I used it only for cutting down low end, but I can use ReaEQ instead without any problems. Besides, I already did that and it seems that sound remains absolutely the same.

So what about it? I used it with only few cents correction to make kick and bass parts sound in the same palette. Nothing more. I know about "illegality" of this act, but I doubt it is very heavy crime, because the effect is minimal.

But you paid for the magazine to get it so not really free.

I know how tempting Rocket is to use, but it is payware so against the rules. Deadline is not far away but still enough time to replace it.

I've uploaded the final version of my entry. It's far from being perfect - it's really been a challenge to cope with such an amount of tracks and crackles :bang: - but here is it, finally! :wheee:

Thanks in advance for your precious feedback, very encouraging :hail:

Some details, as usual:

- 46 Plex tracks on Cubase Studio 4
- Host EQ and Comp, Melda Autopan on insert
- Magnus Ambience and TAL Dub II (with modulation set at zero) on send
- A lot of volume / pan / reverb amount automations
- Sheppi free spatial enhancer, Ferric TDS and TLs Maximizer on master bus
- Crackles (free and unwanted for everyone :x)

Hi Guys,

Just uploaded my track Implex for the challenge.

I didn't have a lot of time for the track but found some time to come up with something the last few days. I didn't wanna skip the contest another month.
I too had some problems with Plex and saw the famous blue screen several times,
I use Windows 7 and Reaper 64 bit so I opted to render my recordings and use only one instance of Plex at a time.

In total there's 17 tracks, for efx is used reverb, delay and compression (Kjaerhus)

Hope you like the track, good luck everyone

Cheers for the submission.

Remember a little bit modulation on delays etc are fine to use now after the rule change.

z.prime - Plastique

Experimental, to say the least.

Another busy month led to a bit of a last-minute entry. It took a while to get some sounds I was happy with on Plex; hardly an 'easy to edit' synth, but definitely some good sounds to be had - I don't think I really touched the surface. Ran into some bug that crashed the whole DAW and made me have to scrap a bit of changes.

Reaper 4.22 in elementary OS (mostly) & Windows.

* Plex 2 (33 instances)
* Atlantis Filter (28 instances - lp,hp,bp filters only)
* np1136peaklimiter (17 instances)
* epicVerb
* jsCompShaper
* Frohmage
* mgTempoDelay
* ReaEQ, ReaComp, ReaXcomp, W1 Limiter

Good luck all, I'll be listening and commenting in the next few days on SoundCloud.

Enjoy!

Hey V'ger, just three things before i go to bed:

-Key88 posted his Plex track in the another group, which was moderated. So he still can participate, i don't see any problem with it, he just got wrong with the group (as usual :hihi: ), but he did it in time.

-There were 21 tracks this evening when i was listening them, now there are only 20. So someone has deleted his own track. No idea who.

-Voting thread it's here. :hihi:

Some nice stuff this month guys. I fell in love with some tracks.

Keep up the good work and have a good day :)

I haven't seen the resubmission by Key88, but as has been done before in One-Synth-Challenge we've given time to fix errors, even if the submission was done last day, so still Ok but only for a day or two.

The missing song is SampleScience - Plexus Solar Dust, probably a wrong post as I can't see it in the submissions thread.

Yeah, sorry guys, I removed my entry to re-upload a less compressed mix with more dynamics & all but I realise that I couldn't re-upload a new version of my tune because it was the first of may!

This makes me realise that my Focusrite soundcard volume is not loud enough, all the music I have produced with it so far sounds terribly loud on normal computers but just right with that soundcard, go figure...
