Does anybody has some tips how to synthese sounds like 'piano'? Any video material, www, anything in electronic format?

Thank you in advance.
Well, the closest kind of things I've been able to come up with are mallet percussion and harp/harpsichord type sounds. Everything I've read online about vector synthesis techniques states that the primary weakness is a complete lack of realistic Piano, Brass, and lush Strings, although building up a string track can be done by layering a ton of individual voices - your mileage may vary. The only problem is that it will definitely not be realistic, just kind of a synthy approximation somewhere between the mellotron string sound and the mellotron flute sound.

So if you want to go the synthetic impressionistic route, it's just whatever works. You can certainly get electric-piano like sounds with enough tweaking. But I think you may be out of luck if you're trying to recreate a real piano. Embrace the complete synthesized experimental nature of the medium and you can get sounds you've never heard anywhere else. 8)

Sounds interesting... I will go follow the sign.

Of course I wasn't satisfied with my own answer, so I've been messing around a little bit and actually came up with something that sounds like an old Radio Shack or Casio type keyboard (purists will flame me for saying that, I guess). It's pretty tough to get, because each component of the sound has to be placed carefully to maintain the illusion of something other than a cacophony of tiny static waveforms being twisted around. Here's a brief visual representation:

I Should emphasize that the Filter Env control in the modulation matrix is shifted ever-so-slightly in the + direction. Plucking or hammering a stringed instrument subtly sharpens the tone during the attack, so this simulates that. Remember it's extraordinarily subtle, only visible in reality with a high res digital or strobe tuner.

Here's a sound of it, apologies for my inability to play the piano.

Sadly, it's not very velocity-sensitive, either. So it's more like a mezzopianomezzoforte, not a pianoforte. And you can see it's not too great at playing staccato.

Wasn't even gonna use this track, but that piano is just what it needed in my mind. And the more submissions the merrier, right?

Thank you Darren, your piano is charming, I recalled my memories when first time I had a chance to play old piano in my basic school - this is the sound I remember :)
Of course your piano is realy nice start for experiments.

And now, for something completely different. Exploring the more "organ"ic  side of the synth, with Japanese Gagaku influences, I think, and some traditional Mbira. :hihi:

That sounds really good. It's mellow like an electric piano with a much more acoustic attack

Well poop. I think I'm out this month. Tried to get it going, but freeze-fest after about four instances, and I don't think I like Augur much anyway, certainly not enough to spend a lot of time on it, so I think I'll wait and see what's up for next month.
