a) applies to any synth of course, but I noticed it using Diva, - my most high-maintainence mistress who is frequently put on ice
b) is simple and probably obvious to everyone already (except me, apparently, until now)
c) applies to Ableton Live specifically but probably most other DAWS
I've always thrown sidechain compression directly on the channel buss. Unfortunately, one can't freeze tracks with sidechaining since the audio output is dynamically determined during playback.
However (again, facepalm), there's nothing stopping you from placing the compression on a return buss, and routing your Diva audio to sends only, allowing you to freeze the Diva output independently of the compression.
Feel free to post "duh".
