Downloaded the Diva demo today, and I notice the heavy CPU load when playing polyphonic presets.

Just so I know what I may get if I purchase, is the demo really using the optimized 40% CPU boost 1.1 version of the Diva VST-instrument?

Thanks

What daw and pc system are you using.
Sometimes you have to set your daws preference or possibly your pc to use all cores.
Also then, make sure you turn on "multi-thread" button on the bottom of the gui there.
edit: Yes the demo, if you've recently downloaded it from the site, is the current version. 1.1

Wow - I need serious help here. I downloaded the demo earlier today and everything was fine. Last thing I did was send some controller info that seems to have freaked out the sound and then I could not get any sound. I've been messing around all afternoon trying to get back where I was. Here is what I tried:

Removed DIVA as an FX/plugand reinstalled using Reaper 4.22
Removed Diva completely from pc and reinstalled.
Did a Restore on my PC thinking the registry got screwed up some how.

Diva is showing up just fine and the burst of periodic fireworks and hiss is coming through my speakers. All my other plugins ( Kontact, Ivory etc) work just fine on the same track and yes the box is checked for Diva.
I can see the midi light in Diva blink when I play keys or move controllers. The controllers affect the knobs using MIDI learn. Multi threading is lit but makes no difference. I cant get any notes to make sound. All the presets show up and I've selected many of them but no sound. I configured Diva to be on another track in Reaper and same thing.

I'm on a PC with Win7 64 service pack 1, I7 3930 with 16 G RAM. RME AES 32

First, where exactly (the path of) did you install it on you system?
You should just try a new project with only a single instance of Diva, and "multi-threading" turned off, for troubleshooting purposes at this point.
Your on a 64bit machine, and your daw is also? Don't have Reaper so don't know.

Thanks mcnoone. I did open a new project as you suggested to no avail. I also moved the Diva.data folder (which I had under my documents on my secondary hard drive) into the Reaper plugin folder which is located under the Program File folder (64 bit). I was using the shortcut in the plugin folder as described in the install directions. Moving everything to the plugin folder solved the problem (I now have sound when sending MIDI) other then when I went to close Reaper and I got the path/permission problem. I believe the original issue may have to do with using an SSED and the data folder being on a slower Hard Drive. Will continue to experiment.

Thanks again.

That sounds just like the demo limitation (periodic hiss and vinyl-like crackles).

1. What revision number is printed on bottom right of the gui?
2. When opening a new instance, what's written in the edit display on the top?

Cheers,

Hi Urs- thanks for replying. Rev 674 and it does show Diva 1.1 demo mode in the edit display when first opened. That is what is so strange. I agree the noise burst is expected because its a demo - no problem there. I just am perplexed that I cant get any other sound out of it. I'm extremely well versed in troubleshooting (EE 30 years) so I think there is a strange bug or it is unique to my configuration - maybe because of using the SSD?

Yeah, the silence is odd indeed... I'd love to discuss that with Clemens when he's back tomorrow.

Is there a chance you can send us a Reaper song file with a silent Diva in it? - support at u-he dot com

Thanks,

Urs

Ok - I just sent it. This is strange but without doing anything other than playing some notes on my controller periodically it started working. I played with it for a while, closed it out, reopened it and no sound again. I then created the one track song file, same problem - no sound. Closed it out, reopened it and it now seems to be working. The original song is also working.

I think I figured it out. In my original Reaper song file in I added Diva on a track that had 8 other vst/vsti plugin. Even though they were all unchecked(disabled) Diva was at the bottom of the heap. I believe Reaper doesn't like too many plugins since they work in serial and the last one in the chain probably suffers for some reason. When I switched projects to a single track with just diva (thanks again for th suggestion mcnoone) I was still hearing no sound until I closed Reaper and reopened it. I believe sometimes the problem will clear itself thus the intermittent nature of this problem.

Anyway I'll play with it some more but I think all is working now. Apologies Urs for bugging you with a non Diva issue. I like what I hear and I believe I will be purchasing Diva very shortly.

No worries, I'm glad if it works out.

We'll definately check out your project, if there's a slightest hint at something we can do, then we'll try to fix it asap.
