I read a lot of on this issue of acoustics but still have several questions unanswered or which I am not 100% sure I understand (and I don't want to miss out anything on such an important part of the studio preparation)
After reading and getting information from very nice people, I am considering building Bass traps, early reflections+sides absorbing panels and diffusers by myself
Obviously I must make sure that i understand it enough to build an effective setup.
The comparison is between Acoustic foam (wedges) such as Auralex VS flat Rigid Fiberglass (703/705):
Early reflections panels:
1. Which one gives better result overall?
2. Does the wedges play a vital role?
3. Should the panel/foam be 2" or 4"?
Absorbers panels on the sides and back walls:
4. Which one gives better result overall?
5. Does the wedges play a vital role?
6. Should the panel/foam be 2" or 4"?
Bass traps (will definitely build Rigid Fiberglass BT):
7. People keep talking about 6" (3x2" boards) but is bigger better? i.e. 12" would do a better job? (I have a large room so np's)
Diffuser:
8. How many diffusers do you recommend to use in a standard room setup? GIK layout show as many as 20 overall...

9. DIY wood diffuser would give better results than Auralex T-fusor/Q-fusor?
10. Is it ok to build wooden stands for all the panels (same as GIK) instead of mounting them on the walls?
THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP!
