Yes MuLab supports themes/skins. Although currently we're concentrated on a single skin because MuLab is evolving and changing fast and so it's too time-consuming to update multiple skins all the time.

Anyway, the fact that MuLab is skinnable does not remove the need to make esthetical choices.

What do you figure this VST will cost? I am thinking the low figure would be around $45.00, high would be around $70.00. Is this about right?

There will only be a MUX Free and MUX UL, no MUX XT. Price TBA.

Jo, would it be possible to add multiple sequencers to emulate the Electribes? This way I could design something that works similar and use it as a standalone groovebox capable of using samples or VST/I's in something like mini host or VST host. Maybe this could be added to MUX v2?

Yes that's absolutely on the wishlist and it's something i personally look forward myself too. I indeed see this as a MuLab 5 / MUX Vst 2 feature.

Core work list is like this:

Test, finalize and release MUX Vst 1.0 for Windows
Implement multi-core support for MuLab
Start R&D on MuLab 5 / MUX Vst 2

In between these tasks, i'll also research the 64 bit versions.
That mainly depends on getting the proper setup here. Will do.

About versioning: I've been thinking to give the MUX Vst plugin the same version as MuLab as these 2 will evolve very much in the same way. And it makes things much easier to talk about. Only odd consequence would be that MUX Vst starts at version 4.2.x (x because i expect some micro updates to come during the public test phase, which will start one of these days)

What do you guys think?

FWIW, I rather see MUX Vst for mac before multi-core MuLab, or MuLab 5.

While I was searching for a modular-capable host in OS X, the options were essentially bidule or rewire max. Neither one has the simplicity->power ratio that MUX has. I would suspect the market is fairly large in the mac scene for something like MUX Vst.

Yes MUX Vst for Mac is to be done too. When exactly it will be implemented will also depend on some technical aspects. To be researched.

Yes there will be a discounted crossgrade from MUX Vst to MuLab UL and from MuLab UL to MUX Vst. Prices will be announced on release.

Yes, I also agree that the background grey colour of the Mux is way too light. The green modulation patch leads(when unselected)get very lost against the current light grey. The screenshot you posted is headed in the right direction, but I would go darker so that the patch leads show up more clearly.

Some other gripes about the current mux in general (and yes I have a UL license and want to buy the VST):

- As someone else mentioned, a marquee selection tool is really needed. There is no way to multiselect modules as far as I can tell. Makes it difficult to arrange many modules on the fly, and delete multiple modules at once. Just a standard left click marquee selection would great.

- A popup every time I delete a module combined with no undo function in Mux is annoying. Combine this with no multiselect and it makes altering an existing patch more time consuming than it should be. Ideally, I could multiselect say 5 modules hit delete, without a popup and then if it was a mistake I could hit undo. Currently, the workflow is select module/hit delete/confirm ...repeat x 5. Unless I am missing something here?

- Maybe more pie in the sky, but I would love to be able to select multiple nodes and then group them into a mux with connections intact. Rather than the current workflow which is to create a mux within a mux, then copy/paste modules and rewire it up.

- Would love to see the gui go in more of a vector direction eventually , so that you could zoom in and out. Thinking more like graphic apps such as Houdini/Nuke etc. The modules can get very small on a HD laptop screen. Maybe for Mux 2!

- Also, I can't get my head around the delay times. Why are they in 24ths, not 16ths/8ths etc?

Anyway, I am a big fan of your app and am looking forward to rocking the mux vst

I agree with these feature requests and they're all on the wishlist already.
Now question is: Should the current MUX Vst 1.0 release be postponed for this? I think the answer is no. Then these features/improvements will be part of a MUX Vst 1.x or 2.0 release. What do you think?

Because this give you more rythmical options, while 16ths (=6/24ths) and 8ths (=12/24ths) are still possible.
