Recording MIDI output from a track

I am having a hard time recording the midi output from one track in another track. I have tried sending the output from track 1 to track 2, but I cannot seem to "arm" track 2 for recording. I have also tried sending the output of track 1 to a Midi Yoke channel, and then using the same Midi Yoke channel as input to track 2.
Is there a way of doing this that I am oblivious to? (Basically I am using lots of MIDI effects on track 1, and I want to record the output from the effects, not the input to them.)
TIA

This works for me using MKey as the Midi Generator:
Track 1: Has MKey (generates MIDI) on it; outputs to MidiYoke output channel 1 (must be active, obviously)
Track 2: Has MidiYoke input channel 1 as its input (enable it in Settings, drag it to Track 2).
Just press record. If that doesn't work, ensure MidiYoke is configured correctly.

Cheers, I will double check my MIDI Yoke settings when I get home from work today. Good to know it should be working!optilude wrote:Track 1: Has MKey (generates MIDI) on it; outputs to MidiYoke output channel 1 (must be active, obviously)

Strange, that I don't hear anything when i set it up like that and can't record therefore anything either on track 2. Midiyoke is set as described.
Any hints? Thank you!

Look at the MKey docs on adbe.org. I think ModulR said you should put Thalamus after MKey to get it to record, but I don't need that here. I don't really know what Thalamus does (since it works without it!) but you may have more luck. Again, check MidiYoke settings. I seem to recall that MidiYoke lets you be more creative with your routing, but i may be wrong.

Yeah Mod worked it all out, so pester him for the authorative answer - I just wrote the plug.
[hopless guess until Mod turns up]
I remember reading that MIDI Yoke doesn't work so well with XP. Could Thalamus be being used as a workaround for this?

I am having a heck of a time getting this to work.
Track 1: Mkey->Thalamus->mda piano
Ouput=midiyoke out 1 (enabled in settings)
Track 2: Midi-yoke in 1
Default midi output
Occasionally this will work for one note. Beyond that the note just repeats indefinitely. I need to go buy a frickin controller.
I inserted midi tracks on each track as well. No luck. Damnit. Well, time to go mastur.....

Have you considered exporting a MIDI file and re-importing?
Be aware that T's export only includes MIDI that emerges from a MIDI out, so you may need to re-route your track before you get anything..
