Just noticed Reason 6.5 came out today, but Uhbiks were not in the shop yet. How much longer till we see those beauties in Reason?

I have Uhbik Pack licence: then will I be entitled to a Rack Extensions version for Reason 6.5?

It looks like none of us are entitled to a cross-license. Very disappointing.geronimo wrote:I have Uhbik Pack licence: then will I be entitled to a Rack Extensions version for Reason 6.5?

It sounds like it's not Urs' fault -- complain to Propellerhead.

It seemed like an obvious, everybody-wins sort of deal but I guess it was more complicated than that? Definitely interested to hear your take on it, but this point was always up in the air so no worries.Urs wrote:Sorry, yeah, bummer. I'll try to prepare an official post tomorrow (too tired now)
Just to detail my reaction - I was about ready to get in the car and drive off the lot with Reason. This news limited to just the Uhbiks would be a speed bump, but the roadblock is how things would add up over years with many developers. If the RE and VST licenses are exclusive for all plugs, realistically that means I'm getting locked into Reason more than I'd really considered.

Yeah, well, the delay is attributed to Diva - she's been more demanding on us than we expected
It might have been possible for us to meet the initial RE deadline, but not with fully compliant REs. There are certain aspects to the graphics specs and code restrictions that we want to get right from the start, not in subsequent updates. I don't know how much of a secret things still are, so let's just say that my 3D modeling skills didn't get me there in the time that I could afford to invest. Hence we've outsourced some work which is an ongoing process.

Don't worry Urs, we still love you! (well not, LOVE love, my wife would have a problem with that, but we are very fond of you!) ;DUrs wrote:Yeah, well, the delay is attributed to Diva - she's been more demanding on us than we expected ;)

Thanks for the update Urs!
I am looking forward to using your products for the first time. Yes, I am one of those strange birds that uses only Reason to produce my music. So basically you just gained a new customer & I just wanted to tell you that Diva looks so sexy!
She would make a fine addition to the RE rack.
Looking forward to our new relationship!

Sincerely (and pretty obviously) I think RE is great news for Reason users. There is and has been plenty of vigorous discussion on KVR about how RE is playing out but it's not a Reason-centric crowd. It's tricky to try and predict everything in an ecosystem, but individual actors will do what's right for themselves. I tend to think the benefits to developers and getting some alternatives for users plays out well for everyone indirectly. The simple thing though is robust, gorgeous signal chains are worth it, Reason's there and u-he is there.GregHPSon wrote:Yes, I am one of those strange birds that uses only Reason to produce my music.

There is a shortage of instruments/synths on the rack store right now. Considering you are outsourcing the 3D artwork, are you going to pricing higher than the VST/AU versions?
