But it's strange how for I guess........a year now? There has been SO little going on. It's like something is wrong. I'd just think the LFO thingy is pretty fundamental for the power user

Actually, reaktor has been my nemesis. The rest of my NI plugs are as you say generally doeable and perform mostly as expected.

According to a recent post in the NI forums that LFO bug has been fixed in a recent update (1.2?)
I don't know that NI notifies on updates; will have to check my account and see if I have that.
Just idle gossip that I'm passing on

Someone mention that Razor is pretty heavy on the cpu. Like how heavy? Diva heavy? DCAM heavy? Massive heavy? Or like one of the module on reaktor player? They're having a promo now and i've been thinking of getting it.

Not DIVA heavy - but you can change the audio rate anyway in Reaktor which has a big effect on cpuxamido wrote:Someone mention that Razor is pretty heavy on the cpu. Like how heavy? Diva heavy? DCAM heavy? Massive heavy?

So probably just like DCAM? Tried reaktor player before and the module is okay for me in term of cpu. Too bad they don't have demo for it.aMUSEd wrote:Not DIVA heavy - but you can change the audio rate anyway in Reaktor which has a big effect on cpuxamido wrote:Someone mention that Razor is pretty heavy on the cpu. It's hard to quantify, but I'd say Diva is more patch-dependant (variable) in terms of CPU - especially since you have so many voice/polyphony/quality settings. There's a quality setting in Razor, mono/poly, etc. of course, but most patches will peg around the same place.xamido wrote:Someone mention that Razor is pretty heavy on the cpu. Like how heavy? On a 2.8G Core 2 MacBook pro running Live, an instance of Razor typically pegs around 15-18%, while Diva is generally a bit higher, and patches high poly/voices in divine mode will start around 50 and hose the CPU. Put another way, I almost always run Diva lower quality and render higher or freeze, but I can get away with a few Razor instances,
If you download the free Reaktor Player and run Newscool, Razor will run a few percent higher (and I highly recommend downloading the player - those three free synths are great fun and sound awesome.

i'll buy it finally now, but i suspect, there will be Razor, FM9 and Massive 2 in Komplete 9, freshly delivered in October 2012.

Need to load up Reaktor first to be able to load Razor, makes it a bit less immediate than other synths I could mention, but worth the waitSendy wrote: Razor just has an immediacy about it

I have always loved Razor from the moment I first played it. I have a fantasy that NI will release an additive synth like Razor, but more powerful, as a standalone without the Reaktor baggage. I doubt it'll happen, but though I appreciate Reaktor (I use Space Drone regularly) I really dislike the difficulty in interfacing it with my DAW in a project. It's design just adds another layer of complexity that seems unecessary.

Question about Razor, if you buy it without Reaktor what was the story with saving presets? You couldn't or you have to do it through the host?
Will that be .fxb which would be universal or nearly universal right?

According to NI you can't, and they were right, up until the new VST3 preset system in Cubase 6, which seems to manage saving and loading just fine.Aiynzahev wrote:Question about Razor, if you buy it without Reaktor what was the story with saving presets? Shame, I can't see reprogramming my patches each and every time I load it.
