That particular sound at 3:03 I would say you could probably nail in Diva. You could get close with a single patch but I think if you create a layer as it is in the video you could get spot on.

To expand on your question a little further. There is a lot the P08 can probably do that Diva cannot due to the number of LFOs and routings it has. It goes the other way as well, due to all the features of Diva, you can do a lot of stuff the P08 cannot do (# of osc per patch, different filters).

I have a Tempest (which can have similar analog voicing to the P08) and Diva and they both are extraordinary at what they do.

*edit* for more of the wilder P08 style patches, Zebra would probably be a better candidate because of the insane level of routings available. Not sure what the new filter modeling is going to bring to Zebra but, I'm sure it's going to be pretty kickass.

That was my favourite sound in the video, too. The B layer sounds like filtered noise, or a sine/triangle wave with noise modulation to pitch (either way, a narrow "musical" band of noise results). I think you'd need two Diva's to get each layer down. Don't worry, I've had three together and they don't fight

oh and slightly OT (not like that ever happens here) but, that dude has some really good videos explaining some basics of synthesis. His FM one does a particularly good example of explaining how FM works.

As there's no way to programme and layer two independent voices/patches, it would require a couple of instances of Diva.

Edit: didn't read Sendy's response. :dog:

When I said layer, I just assumed people would realize I ment more than one instance of Diva. Back in the day we would "layer" an Oberheim with a DX. It's odd to me anymore that people seem to talk about synths stuff almost mutually exclusive. I've "layered" Zebra with Diva and have achieved some wonderful noise. Apologies if my "vintage" terminology isn't translating well.

I also think you could get pretty close in a single instance just by adding noise and playing with envelopes and filters a bit. Heck, you could probably even do it on the Prophet 08 as well by bringing up the noise on the original patch. And, I'll reiterate, it wouldn't be exactly the same but I think you would be in the ballpark.

OT, But I couldn't never find the second part on the FM video. Do you know if it was ever made?

I don't think so. He posted a video a couple months ago that he was getting ready to start doing videos again... maybe if some people message him and encourage him to do so he'll be more into it. I personally dig his method of explaining stuff. The FM one in particular really made me go: oh crap, I can do that.
