hello,
I start a lot to deal with Mu-lab Xt. I was very happy, until I realized that automation are counted as tracks.
I thought by track you hear "or indstrument sample". I did not overlook the possibility to edit the audio file in depth, but is is too much ...
For the price I buy Mulab Xt, I have a akai ableton professional edition (gratutement I had when I buy an apc 40) which does the same Mulab see that Xt.
Big disappointment! Not for the software itself but for the most enormous restrictions, that you made.
I was thinking of buying the full version, but I will not ...
Cordially.

I know that, for the user, the perfect scenario would be a giant and even then growing feature set with perfect user support and all this for 0 euro.
Unfortunately i'm afraid this is unrealistic. (Unless MuTools would use an ad-based business model, but that's not the case)
Please also see it from MuTools' side: If there isn't enough turnover, business will die, of course, and then there are no updates anymore, no user support etc.
So a reasonable price is even best towards the users!
Do you really think that MuLab XT, with all its features, including a complete modular synth and effect engine, VST support, MIDI support etc etc is not worth its 25 euro price tag?
If the track limit is too limiting for you, do evaluate MuLab UL.
It's absolutely worth its price. In my (and others) humble opinion of course.
And don't forget that purchasing a MuLab 4 UL User license (also via the XT -> UL upgrade) gives you free updates until MuLab 5.99.999!

This is a very odd complaint, frankly I wonder if it is a mere fake post aimed at making Mulab look bad.
I mean, any version of Mulab is a bargain, even the 75 euro version. Plus, you could and should have tested it before you spent one cent on it.
It says you are from France. If you were from Afghanistan or the Kongo I would understand that 25 or 75 euros is a lot of money. But in France?! The Akai controller costs hundreds of Euros and yet you expect good software to be free? Did you complain the APC 40 was not for free?

Beside that, he's just not realistic and probably new to the world of electronic music, otherwise he/she could clearly see the amazing value of MuLab compared to its price.> DiGiT < wrote:i always thought mutools prices are very fair. this guy is crazy

hello,
I did not create is to denigrate Mutools post, I never said it was shit, it was not worth the shot and he needs to be free ... I was a big disappointment yesterday has come half my song when I heard this sound wave, the blow can not finish my music.
I got carried away and it's not my habit das.
To be honest I never took much pleasure to deal with on a soft Mulab, that is why I win.
I'll wait a bit and save to pay me the full version (because yes even in France for 59 € are some who are forced to economize. Driving is not all gold ...)
I took you to forgive me.
Cordially.

A little way out to stretch your Euros:
This works only if your sequencer track has the same target (instrument) as the automation (e.g. do a filter sweep of your synth)
1) Drag the instrument (the slot(!), not the rack) to the related track header.
2) Open the piano roll editor
3) Click onto "All Notes" on the left of the controller lane of the Piano Roll window
4) Select "Parameter" from the list, which opens all the instrument parameters, and select the one you want to automate.
5) Draw the automation as required in the controller lane.
Done!
If you want to see your note velocities again, click on the header of the controller lane and select "All Notes".
The currently used lanes (that contain data) are listed at the top of the list.
You can automate as many parameter as you want. You can only see one at a time.
Hope that helps.

Not getting into the money issue as it is a good price but I can understand some of the OP's confusion as I experienced the same thing with the free version. I have never heard of automation lanes being counted as actual tracks before. It seems a strange thing to do considering just one instance of a VSTi in just one actual track can often easily exceed 8 lanes of automation. eg just using the performance controls of Alchemy or Kore, without tweaking anything else, will add over 8 lanes. Most times I use any plugin I will have many lanes of automation as I use it to capture my live playing with expression - one reason I've never been able to use the free version for long as it always leads to exceeding the limitations even if from my POV I'm just using one track and one plugin.

I understand. But atoh i think that offering 8 real instrument tracks + as many automation tracks as you want would not be good business.
I see it like this: MuLab Free = free and gives you some room to demo MuLab and to effectively use it to some extent for free.
Then you have the top-level MuLab UL for 75 euro. That gives you all freedom for a reasonable price.
Now because for some people even 75 euro is too hard (respect), or because some people don't need all the power of MuLab UL, now that's why MuLab XT is there as an intermediate solution.
Conclusion: If MuLab XT is not enough, upgrade to MuLab UL. That way you're giving yourself much more creative freedom and at the same time you're supporting the further development of MuLab and the MUX.

Some youngsters try out Mulab, but they don't have the cash to buy Mulab UL
Seems to me frustating for them, when they compose and than the program is limited in use for them.
Ok, there are limitations, because you cannot get it for free all functionality in Mulab.
It is a unpleasant situation, but there is no solution (only buy the full version of Mulab)
Maybe the only solution is to allow a simple composition with all automations, because a muture composition needs more..so at the end this younsgster come maybe back to buy the full version of Mulab?

Even so I think at the moment a person looking to buy the XT version could understandably be disappointed if they did not realise that automation lanes are classed as tracks by you, that is not the case in any other host I know of and it is not clear in the descriptions I have seen that this is the case. Maybe you should at least clarify your descriptions and explain that automation is classed as tracks in MuLab. It supports 8 plugins but effectively if you used all 8 you would not be able to use any automation in the current model.mutools wrote:I understand. hello,
It was not my intention to set fire to the powder, far away ... But I think it's normal to make things clear, especially when o pays something (even if Xt is really cheap) Now it's done and it is like that.
For me the problem is solved since I spend a Mulab UL, and frankly I have no regrets!
It's really a DAW with a possibility and power of his phenomenal!
Bigup Mutools!
