I am coming from Reason where it was fairly easy to do this with just loading the Alligator in fact too easy because the device just did it. How can I do this with Diva? I am using Live 8 standard (non suite). Do I need some sort of fx plug ins to do this if so what kind or can I do this with Diva alone?

You could throw the built in ableton gate on the track, and then sidechain the gate to another track that is playing the pattern you want from another sample/synth/etc

Just automate the clip/track volume in Live. It's as easy as that!

thanks for the replies I have been using a gate plug in I own I was just curious if there was another option out there as well to do it internally that I was missing. I am not 100% happy with the results of the gate I have now.
