No. A few dollars, quid, euro or yen do not stop you from buying a new synth, nor is there any reason to believe those savings would be passed to you if presets were omitted. But even if they were both true, you'd still have people demoing the preset version of the synth and then buying the one without presets. So, even though they don't get paid for it, programmers are helping to boost sales but only getting paid for the synths that actually sell with their presets. This reduction of price you're talking about isn't some fair-game cost reduction, you're just pushing that cost onto the programmers who now make even less money than before. And all so you... don't have to look at presets?vurt wrote: as for mcnoones complaints about not supporting my peers just because i suggested this, i buy synths, i would probably buy more if there where discounts for preset free synths, im not talking about huge discounts even 5 or ten dorrar! therefore i would be supporting more devs no?
I don't understand the preset hate. Working from scratch every time is fine if you have knobs to tweak, but when you're moving a mouse it's just a PITA. I went through a phase where I deleted all of my synth presets and worked from scratch. It helped me build my synth patching chops. It also taught me that I suck compared to the pros and should be spending my time making music instead.
