Or my favorite...looking for good guitar demos ...find nothing but overly compressed MP3's of same...and NO WAV's to be had!!

But in the end your listeners will very likely listen to the song on a crappy ipod or car/kitchen radio playing an mp3 or *yuck* a ripped youtube video, so an mp3 demo is far more practical

j/k I'm all for high quality demos and well produced and voiced over reviews/presentations. Project Preset anyone?

As an aside, this also applies to video game walkthroughs filmed on a webcam or camcorder- when there's not even a voiceover. There are so many ways you can record direct from the console/PC.

OH!!! And YouTube tutorials that don't have voiceovers or captions, but instead have someone typing instructions slowly into Notepad, spelling mistakes, corrections, and all.

Damn, I just pissed myself off.

There's Dissidia videos (PSP) that show off their battles, and they take a cell-cam recording of it.

The real wallbanger is that Dissidia is one of the few games where you can create a high quality AVI of a recorded battle with just a few clicks! And put it on your PC, to YouTube it goes!

Let alone, even if you forget that, the PSP has TV Hookup cables... how hard can that be?

As an aside, I've seen a couple of quality synth demos on YouTube, by a guy who was showing off an Emulator II. I think that's it. He must've done Line In Through PC, because it was a slideshow with some great quality audio.

Either give yourself a sync pop on both the camera and the DAW (i.e, slate clap, two drumsticks tapped together in view of the camera, etc) or use a dual 1/4" to stereo 1/8" adapter and feed the output into the camera (Maybe thru your audio interface first...)

What are the 'preset' videos?
They are like a regular ol' horrible demo vid, but instead they just tick through the presets. Not so much as twisting a knob or sometimes playing more than two notes.
Ive been furious over those...
Instead of alleviating some curiosity, they increase it.
Can you just like, twist that filter knob a bit, or maybe expand that dropdown for just a second...

To me it comes off like an 'unboxing'. I.e. Really just an excuse for someone to show off their Early Adopter status...

Then use windows movie maker or pretty much any video editing software to line up the recorded sound and the video from the first note

The secret is to use a screen capturing software that can also capture the 'What You Hear' driver - the actual total audio output - then you can still use a mic to capture VO audio, but also the clean sound of the actual synth - not capturing it through the mic, or as you put it, the webcam mic. It does sound tinny and cheesy IMHO. You put all this work into a incredible sounding synth and then record it using capture software that records through a tiny cheap mic. It's actually kind of funny.

I use BB Flashback Express. Good screen capture software that also captures high quality audio playback direct from the internal digital mixer.
