Ah, thanks, will download it later today.
Another thing I noticed, don't know if it is intended that way, though: When recording drums, very short instruments like kick drum often only fill just a tiny fraction of one of those horizontal segments, don't know what they are called. In this case, that short note bar is either not available for changing its length at all, i.e. there is no pencil. Or when zooming further in and the pencil becomes available, the note bar becomes either even shorter and cannot be changed anymore no matter what the zoom level, or it becomes so long as to fill the entire segment. In the latter case again that note bar cannot be shortened anymore to, say, half the segment length, only extended to further segments.

Whe you have very short notes and you're zoomed out a lot, then indeed the pencil cursor might not become available because there just is not enough room for auto tool switching. Zooming in is the solution then.
Please make sure you choose a proper snap grid, in the bottom-right of the sequence editor. That one affects editing.
To define the recording grid: Right-click the little "Record Events" button at the right of the main record button, there you'll find the options.

Thanks, I have tried that, but it seems some notes already edited just don't become available anymore for editing when changing the zoom level or grid. I have changed to 1/64th resolution and the highest zoom level, still, some notes stay extremely short no matter what grids I choose.
I can send you a screenshot if you wish.
As I said, I just noticed it, I don't think it will be a problem, though.

For my curiosity: How did these notes become that short? Anyway, you can also access the notes via the Event List Editor and edit their length there.

I am not sure, but it seems to have to do with changing grids. When you record a very short note on 1/64th grids and then change to, say, 32th grids, clicking on the pencil without dragging it sometimes shortens that note to a tiny fraction of the segment instead of extending it to the entire segment of the grid chosen, which would make more sense. That tiny note never becomes available for editing with the mouse again regardless of grids or zoom level. Maybe the information on note length simply gets lost and only the mere presence of a trigger signal is shown.
I have not tried the event editor list editor, yet. Will try that if necessary, but I guess I will just pick 1/64-grids and stick with them

I tried to 'accidently' get such super small note but couldn't do it, unless i set snap grid to off and fully zoom in, but then that has been an explicit choice. Or am i mising something?

I can reproduce it anytime. I open Mulab using the default grids, load a drum kit, record some beats with short kick drums. Then I zoom in a couple of levels and click (without dragging) on the pencil of notes that are shorter than half of the segments they are in. This makes the notes shrink even further to some narrow mini note that cannot be edited anymore, no matter which grids or zoom levels you choose.

If you switch to the list editor, what length are those notes?

In the length column it says Trigger for those notes.
Maybe it is even supposed to work that way, who knows

Ok, i can repeat it this way, and in the next version this has been finetuned. Now for my curiosity: Why do you just click on it without drag? What was the intention?fluffy_little_something wrote:I can reproduce it anytime. I open Mulab using the default grids, load a drum kit, record some beats with short kick drums. Well, because I accidentally noticed that usually just clicking makes that the note snap to the segment limit.
Anyway, there is also a slight inconsistency: when you have a chord, i.e. a column of note bars, you can highlight them all to edit them all together. When you drag the right end of one bar with the pencil all notes' ends get changed, but on the left side that is not the case.

I was just modifying a session I had saved yesterday. Since I did not want to overwrite yesterday's version I chose "Save As". I find it strange that it suggested exactly the same name for the file, without updating the date, thus asking me if I wanted to overwrite it. If I had wanted that I would have chosen "Save"
