You need a dongle to do that.Dunc wrote:Does anyone know if the same Soft eLicenser can be used on a PC and also on a Laptop (not in use at the same time) ?
I can't seem to find any info on the Steiny site about this.
It would be a bit crap if I had to buy another PadShop to run on my Laptop...

What you could do is contact Steinberg maybe? See what they can work for you...Dunc wrote:Thanks Standalone...not the reply I was hoping for, but thanks all the same.

Wow, bought Padshop Pro this morning and I am loving it. Here is a first more experimental demo destroying the sample of a metal barrel which I sampled the other day, I'll definitely be making a Bank for Padshop Pro

Can someone shed some light on the Preset Browser in Padshop Pro? I saved several of my own presets but they don't show up in the Browser, there is no downward arrow to unfold the User folder. Also the "Import Preset" function in the sample window doesn't work.
Also I noticed that when I save my own presets the ending in the name is not .vstpreset like in the Factory stuff but it has some gigantic name with vst3.steinberg.com.whatever - can this be correct?
This is in Logic 9.1.7 on a Mac Pro.
So all my presets from this morning are actually useless so far as I can't recall them. All I can do is to save stuff in the .aupreset format but than I won't be able to share my sounds with Non-Mac users.
Anybody?

Padshop is really great for dense, rich soundscape and pad textures - here is a patch made from/with 2 granulated soprano saxophone samples:

When you save your own presets they will always be saved as *.vstpreset. If you want them to show up in the user presets list you have to save them in this folder on your Mac system:
/Users/(yourname)/Library/Audio/Presets/Steinberg Media Technologies/Padshop
You can also create subfolders in there to organize your custom presets.
When you save your presets at a different place you still can drag'n'drop them directly from the finder into Padshop.

Thank's - hmmm, I tried all that already, the saved format is always named vst3.com.steinberg-whatever and not .vstpreset - will investigate further now.Q8 wrote:When you save your own presets they will always be saved as *.vstpreset. Just checked again and the folder you mentioned is exactly the location where I saved my presets to. Now I made some screenshots to demostrate the issue.
So I save a preset by clicking on the disc icon at the bottom of the UI, then Logic tells me this:

I click on the grey option in that popup and check the User folder located at /Users/(yourname)/Library/Audio/Presets/Steinberg Media Technologies/Padshop
also you can see that the preset format looks strange, it's not a normal .vstpreset

Then I try to load the preset again usin the Preset Browser in Padshop and as you see the folder is missing the downwards arrow as if there was nothing in there

So what can I do now?
Cheers
Simon

@Simon:
Just a guess, but did you re-scan your preset folders with Mediabay?
I always let Mediabay scan all my preset folders after a Cubase update or a vst3 installation.
Cheers,
Gerald

Wow, sorry
Thought you were on Cubase. I didn't touch Logic since version 5 on Win98.
Though i had the "complete Logic system" with a Audiowerk8 and an AMT8.
