Bought.
VERY handy.
I just wander how the results relate to non-repetitive music...

Professional technicians are assessed by the abilities they possess.
Amateur technicians are assessed by the tools they possess - and the amount of those tools, with an obvious preference to the latest hyped ones.

Eric I am a little dissapointed that You are a MAC user, You've gone right down in my estimationsUncle E wrote:I'd like to know, too, given there's no Mac plug-in yet.skitchy wrote:@OP - Could you shed some light on the technique described in the article (without the plugin). I'd like to try it out the 'hard' way - if it works, I'll buy the plugin to simplify the process, but you don't learn anything that way
Anyway joking aside thanks Ratthead for the heads up and Compyfox for those links, I do it by ear and doing it on a regular calculator...The scenic route basically, But kicking myself for not thunking to look for a calc that does it all for me already

Doesn't mean that it's bad to know how to do it "without" tools. This is actually a strong point, Dean.
I also see a problem with non repeatative, non constant BPM material. Example: orchestra. Here, beat supporting reverb doesn't really work as the purpose of a reverb in this case is to model a certain room.
And IIRC, short pre-delay = large room and the other way around (if I'm not totally off).
Here is another post of interest with "fixed predelay" in orchestra productions:

Else, yes - the right delay setting (in ms) for reverb, no matter if it's long or short, can work wonders for an EDM production if you need a certain additional groove which you can not create through other means.

My laptop is a MacBook Air, my super dependable DAW I love dearly is still a PC and probably always will be. My next laptop will be a Surface Pro.

Music Math is a free tool for the Mac that does various calculations based on tempo, as in delay for example.

Actually, I still haven't gotten around to trying it on cans yet.Froqqer wrote:So how much of help is this plugin with mixing with headphones?
Others may comment.
As others have pointed out, the plugin is just a shorthand way to use the process, which itself is simple enough to understand.
There are links worth following in other posts here and I encourage you to read widely on the subject. No technique is universally applicable but if you can gain an understanding of what is going on then that WILL help you in every situation.

I think I have answered this on page 1 (see quote below).Froqqer wrote:So how much of help is this plugin with mixing with headphones?
It works well on speakers and headphones, could really improve your mix, not only for rhythm align also for finetuning the reverb settings.
I use this plugin infront of the reverb slot, switching it on for finetuning and off for hearing results. It's a quick helper to trim your reverb to your needs.
Maybe it's just subjective, but I really get better results.
PeterL wrote:It's an easy concept, but as promised by the developer you can hear clearly what every subtle parameter in a reverb does for easy understanding (maybe you could dump the manual of every complicate reverb now).
It also works quite well on headphones.
I tested it so far just on EAReverb, but it is really a useful helper to set up predelay, BNCrate, BNCdepth according to the rhythm of the track without using a BPM calculator.

Stavs Pulsed Pink Noise Generator Page has been updated (JUL-15-2012).
EDIT: Some GOOD NEWS ...
http://studiostav.com/products-page/VST plugin works with ALL versions of Windows 32 & 64bit, but NOT with Ableton Live 8. Mac version not ready yet.
EDIT: Some GOOD NEWS ...
Daniel, this just in from my Codesmith:
"Looks like Ableton Live has a bug concerning VST plugins with only 1 mono audio output (no input).
Ableton Live produces no audio under these conditions.
Easy to implement a workaround and make a new version soon."
Daniel, you can post this on the forum if you like to let those concerned know what's up.
You'll be the first to know when it's ready.
Thanks, Stav
