There are a lot of game companies here in Vancouver. Have you done much programming for games? Actually, games need music, too, don't they? Hmm...

Post

Thanks Josh! :D I would LOVE to work on games, since it was my first passion before music programing. Actually, I did the first multimidia game in Brazil to appear in a shareware CD, and this is TRUE, not inventing this...

I just don't know how to proceed on getting the job from here, any help is sure apreciated. Vancouver is good to live too, don't need to be Victoria, just BC is the only -must- ;-)

@all

As a sample content provider I´m one of the business partners of Dash and I can confirm that William is a nice person with great ideas and a good intention at all. Exactly this is what we need in the musical instruments industry today.

Cheers :-)

Hi William,

You're a very nice person to deal with, and I wish you the best of luck. Please let us know if there is anything we could do to help. Unfortunately, I don't know anything about programming jobs in Canada, but perhaps someone else reading this forum might. Out of curiousity, would you be interested in moving to the USA? Surely there would be a job for you somewhere in either Canada or the USA.

good luck,
McLilith

Sorry to hear you had to leave Canada, William! Wish I had some useful advice to give but I don't, really :? Hope you do get a chance to return at some point though - Canadians really live in a great country, even with its many faults. (now where is that flag-waving emoticon when I need one?) :D

Post

Thanks guys, I really want to move back to Canada and work in Victoria or Vancouver. I hate Brazil, but I was born here, so I can't just leave. :( If only I could find a company that would hire me, it would make things easier.

Here to find a job that would pay enought is almost impossible, not to mention that I don't like to live here. I have been in several cities, the best ones, and still, can't find "home" on this country. The problem is culture, I don't fit here.

Anyway, looks like I have to wait and see what life brings me...

If anyone want to talk with me, email me at william@kalfelz.com - you can also see some pictures from our life in Canada at www.kalfelz.com/canada/

hi ya William.... well then I can only say like many of the gang here... I wish you the very best of things... and hopefully new good things will find their way to your door!

I for one feel lucky to have gotten to know you a little during the few beta testing sessions and I really value and appreciate you great attitude with everyone here.

Gee! Now you have a chance to see and feel Brazil... that could be very good I think! If nothing else, at least it's warmer than Canada, eh?

I surely hope you will find a way to stay in touch with us all... even if it's just here.

Again all good wishes to you!!!!! :)

Hi William,

I would try 4 different ways (using your skills):

1. Asking music/game software companies for a job giving them a good presentation of your skills and successes.
2. Giving private lessons to school boys and adults in software programming and/or computer science and/or computer based music production.
3. Producing music for films / TV / labels.
4. Founding a new own (music) software company again.

Some of these you could combine for getting enough money for living.

I wish you good luck ... :)

Thanks guys again for all the messages. The option number 4 is the way to go right now. I could get a job here, but sadly, the best I could get would be around 400U$ a month. Crazy, I could easly get that doing other things on the internet. ;-)

I´m creating a new site called www.Wusik.com as many know already. It will be about several things, Reaktor Ensenbles, VSTs, SoundSets for the EVE VSTi, and also a digital-label. Check the site for more info. :D

I´m also working on a new VST, check the link below for more information and also how to support my work there:

hi williamk. we "spar" from time to time, but you have always helped me too when i have had problems. you also do very good work.

so you should feel confident. times when things seem to go wrong; when what you had hoped for fades away; this is the time when the brain sometimes pulls out the best work.

a new environment, a new challenge. i think perhaps six months from now you will be booming and think that perhaps after all everything was for the best.

anyway, people with undoubted talent will always find a path....
