I'm still pretty upset this compressor is free. I mean how can you just give away a free compressor like this? What was fxpansion thinking? This certainly indicates fxpansion is about to file bankruptcy, and then how will my fxpansion licenses work? How could fxpansion not realize that giving away a free compressor would crash their web site? I mean, I hate the new compressor because it's free and it has copy protection, but still ...

The scary part is that you got this far thinking I was serious. If you were agreeing with me, you have serious issues.

I got some free Ice Cream at Ben and Jerry's this year and I'm pretty upset about that too. I got some on my shirt. I think it means Ben and Jerry's is definitely going out of business any day now, and then how can I be expected to shove free Ice Cream down my gullet?!? How will I ever clean this shirt?

If you read a story about a naked man down on the mall licking ice cream off his shirt, please com bail me out of jail.

Agreed. It is remarkable for a freebie and definitely encourages me to try the demos of the Dynamics suite. Very pleased with the freebie so far.

I would postulate that the deeper and much more flexible feature set available in the suite of plugs are well worth a sustained amount of demo time.

I'm so tired of companies being nice and giving things away for free. Great, I just spilled compressor juice on my shirt.

Nice news, but I'll wait 4 months for the Audiomidi no-brainer...

People really need to get over that no brainer  like it was a bad thing or something... Doubt they will do another one with all this complaining about it.

'Free' as in a free marketing tool you mean? No business gives anything away for free. It's all factored into the business plan.

I own most of FXpansion's products which I really like but it's a bit naive to criticise someone complaining about registration and C/R for a 'free' plugin. We give them personal info so they can promote their products to us and they give us a 'free' plugin. It's the ABC of business.

By the way, did you have to provide your name/email and install C/R for that 'free' Ben and Jerry's?

No, Andy hasn't worked for FXpansion for several years now. Cytomic is completely independent of FXpansion. The DSP for both the cross comp and env shaper were newley developed by myself and Henry_fx. The bus comp and the channel comp are tweaked versions of the ones that ship with bfd2, Geist etc and were developed in house - some parts were written by Andy a while back, but all four of us in the development team have made changes since then...and additional improvements were made for this release

Hope that's of interest :-)

Been actually putting tracks thru Geist just for the filter and comp I love you all.

That said is Freecomp a simplified ver of the full product or something tuned different? Can't see now with the site down..

I figure that is the complainer's goal.. they WANT them to stop selling products at super low deal prices. These people would rather complain they got slightly singed on one deal in order to avoid getting good pricing later down the road.

Let's all complain and make FXpansion and all other developers reconsider providing really low 'no brainer' deals in the future!

Then let's all complain that there aren't any 'good' no-brainer deals anymore!

You really cannot win here.

Oh, they should definately have no-brainer sales, but not for products that has barely made it's entrance on the market. It's not exactly my idea of respecting your loyal customers who support new products when they're released.

Besides.. I was one of the first to ask FXpansion to do a DCAM effects pack with the effects from Geist. The Bus Compressor sounds really amazing. But now that it's released I wont support the product for at least 6 months. Then we'll see. I can be such a stubborn old a***.

You're missing the point. It's not about the no-brainers. No-brainers are good for business. It's about whether having early sales with massive discounts is a proper way to treat customers who supported a relative young product. We're talking 4 months here.

I see no issue here.

Customers who bought it 4 months ago as early adopters got the product for 4 months!! longer than everyone else.

This is generally how sales work... You buy it early, you pay more but get use of it before anyone else.

Case in point: I bought an mp3 player at 150 USD 1 day after it was released knowing full well the same item would be 30-50 dollars less within 6 months. But I was OK with that because I wanted it now!! and knew I'd pay a premium to have it now.

I also wait for movies and PC games to age a little to drop in price.. it doesn't take much time... usually a few months before there are limited time sales cropping up.

Audio software is not and should not be shielded from the same effects of the economy.
