Synthmaster doesn't read Ableton velocities

No matter what preset I use or make, I can't get Synthmaster to read my Ableton Live 8.3.3 velocities. Regardless of the velocity, Synthmaster will play all the notes equally. I literally have to go in and put each notes or series of notes that I want at a lower/higher velocity and put them in their own MIDI clip and lower/raise the master volume on Synthmaster. There has to be an easier way to do this.
Simply the best.

I really dont understand? As long as you modulate any parameter with "MIDI Velocity", your patches will be "velocity sensitive". We read the MIDI velocity from the host as it is.PROFFETA wrote:No matter what preset I use or make, I can't get Synthmaster to read my Ableton Live 8.3.3 velocities. Synthmaster does not read any of my velocities at the bottom of the Ableton screen. It doesn't matter if the velocity is 0 or 120, it plays all notes at the same velocity. All my other plugins read my velocities, so I know its not my Ableton. Where do I enable this "MIDI velocity" that you speak of?
Simply the best.

Unless you MODULATE a parameter with "Midi Velocity" you will NOT hear the effect of Velocity on any parameter.PROFFETA wrote:Synthmaster does not read any of my velocities at the bottom of the Ableton screen. Did you look into the user manual?
Thanks

Click on any volume knob of your choice, select Modulation source > MIDI > Midi velocity and change amount of modulation in the matrix on the right side.
Not seconding the "bug", everything works OK here in 8.3.3.

I really don't know this instrument but if instrument really play all notes on all patches at the same levels regardless of what velocity is then - this is very lame
I guess it ship with at least 200 presets. If user is supposed to go through all presets and tweak each one to respond to midi velocity then this is absolutely lame.
And it would be the first time i hear for this.
Literally i can't remember any synth of doing that.
So i bet it's some kind of confusion in OP system.

Well lot of patches hasn't got velocity mapping, but it's totally not all of them.

Synthmaster doesnt come with "preconfigured" matrix routings, but supports "template" presets. You can create your own template with MIDI velocity mapped to any parameter of your liking and then use that presets as a "base" in your designs.kmonkey wrote:I really don't know this instrument but if instrument really play all notes on all patches at the same levels regardless of what velocity is then - this is very lame

Most of the factory presets have MIDI velocity mapped to internal parameters! and SynthMaster has one of the most sophisticated modulation architecture. Just take a deep look before you complain!

I did that on Master Volume and its doesn't work. I also tried doing that to Osc 1 Volume knob and to the Layer 1 volume knob and it still just plays everything at the same level. Synthmaster is the only plugin that causes problems with my 8.3.3. I can only have about 3 or 4 instances of Snythmaster because anymore will cause my Ableton to crash and then I can't open the song without deactivating/reactivating my plugins.FarleyCZ wrote:Click on any volume knob of your choice, select Modulation source > MIDI > Midi velocity and change amount of modulation in the matrix on the right side.

also make sure you have the modulation set to multiply, not add since that would only add the velocity amt to the volume and wouldnt really do anything. Im not sure how you managed to set it on the master volume since if I try that here I get an error saying you cant do that.

yes I just figured it out. I did "Layer 1 and 2: Osc Volume, Multiply with the knobs turned up all the way. Still, I wished I could use more Synthmasters in my songs and also map the Layer 1 Volume or Gain and the Master Volume to the Midi velocity parameters. But its better than nothingezelkow1 wrote:also make sure you have the modulation set to multiply, not add since that would only add the velocity amt to the volume and wouldnt really do anything. Master volume, Layer 1/2 volumes etc are global parameters, they are NOT voice parameters. so you can NOT modulate them with velocity.PROFFETA wrote:yes I just figured it out. However, try modulating "Layer 1 Voice Volume" with velocity, modulation type set to X (multiply), and modulation amount set to full.

Oh you're back bashing my product again, welcomemichi_mak wrote:master volume NOT following velocity by design??? are you serious???
Dont you read what I write?
There are 2 types of parameters
1. Voice parameters: Those are available for EACH VOICE PLAYING
2. Global parameters: Those are NOT available for each voice, they are GLOBAL, such as the MASTER VOLUME.
The volume you are referring is VOICE VOLUME, which is available for each voice. If you modulate it via MIDI Velocity, you're done.

I have to agree. I spent almost 300 dollars on synthmaster, but i need a science degree to use it. I too like most patches to have velocity, but i find it hard to map things, i'm not that techy. The online tutorials are quite complex, which is fine and i understabd that's how they are in Germany, i know, i'm a steinberg user! But i setting up basic patche is pretty difficult unless you are a synth guru. the presets are great, but using it to tweak and change basic things, like tuning an extra voice is not as simple. I also get a red or black box on the fx screen, so its quite unstable for me to use, especially more than one instance.
