Old Receptor - Kontakt 3 still available?

I have just bought a used Receptor 1 (my first Receptor!).

After having made the purchase, I _then_ did further research and found out (much to my dismay) that I can only update as far as OS 1.7 and therefore can not run any version of Kontakt after 3.

I do have Komplete 6 and 7, both of which have Kontakt 4, but alas, I won't be able to run them on the Receptor.

Does anyone know if Kontakt 3 is still available anywhere, or if NI has ever offered anyone a 'downgrade' for this purpose?

Otherwise, I know that back when the Receptor 2 came out, Muse had offered an upgrade whereby a new HDD was installed with 1.8 on it. I think that window has far passed, and I am wondering if anyone has heard of being able to upgrade to 1.8 at home so that I can obviate the need to scrounge around for Kontakt 3.

Any input is appreciated!

Unless there's some fine print about upgrading a used Receptor, it should be upgradable:

Depending on what you paid, getting a 2+ Pro Max for $1599 is a major deal when you consider the full purchase price.

Granted, I'm SURE that's more than you wanted to spend, but it's that or hunt around for someone who can transfer a Kontakt 3 license to you, assume NI even allows that. You can ask certainly put the question to Native Instruments directly.

John,

Thanks for the input.

I will eventually consider the full upgrade but for now I'm just testing the waters with an old used model to see if it even fits into my live rig. This is a cheap way to introduce myself to the receptor.

I will send NI a message but I have seen similar topics posted on their forums a few years back and the answer was always negative.
