Semi-agree re: release. Definitely tempo/content dependent. And agree 100% about the meter, which is worse than useless. Just give me numbers - that meter is a waste of resources and is just a bad taste. BUT. It is a good sounding compressor, worth the authorization and it's it different enough from say, the freebie Klanghelm that you'll want both.A.M. Gold wrote:Free version is obviously an SSL 4K, as I'm sure has been pointed out, with a fixed auto release that is sloooooooooow. And that meter is a joke.
Sounds pretty good, though. Worth the licensing hassle.

Again, it was a joke. I knew it was spelled properly improper. I wasn't faulting Paul_FX' spelling. If anything, I was questioning the developer's choice of app names.egbert wrote:http://reederapp.com/antithesist wrote:Did it come with a spellar?Paul_FX wrote:I bought reeder for £0.69, and have had many hours of enjoyment out of it.

Do remember what at least used to happen to him when he would do that. I suppose it could be a panty change thing.bailees7irish wrote:such a hasslettoz wrote:well shit now you are going to make me launch logic to try these.. grrrrrrrrr

If I stooped to pedestrian memes, there would be big multiple facepalm here, possibly Picard.
So, there's no over-sampling on freecomp? I think I read that the DCAM Dynamics processors are 2X by default and 4X in HD mode.

Freecomp is fixed at 2x over sampling.antithesist wrote:If I stooped to pedestrian memes, there would be big multiple facepalm here, possibly Picard.

Yes, release time is too slow for me too. Etch compressor is more faster (hard mode).A.M. Gold wrote:Free version is obviously an SSL 4K, as I'm sure has been pointed out, with a fixed auto release that is sloooooooooow. And that meter is a joke.

I'm preferring free Melda Compressor instead of DCAMFreeComp for more complex results. Melda Compressor can works with very low amount of distortion artifacts that can be suitable for compressing low-tone-drums such as taiko,....

Thanks, that's good and good to know. I'm liking the free one a lot. Even with only auto-release, I'm finding attack, ratio and threshold settings that work for quite a few things.Paul_FX wrote:Freecomp is fixed at 2x over sampling.antithesist wrote:So, there's no over-sampling on freecomp? Freecomp is a good alternative to my Duende and busspressor SSL-types. I might have passed on the PSP for the full DCAM suite, or maybe even for the free one alone. Oh, well.
Another question: is the freecomp and buscomp 2:1 ratio soft-kneed and 4:1/10:1 hard?

That knee varies as the ratio changes, its not simply a soft-hard swap over, each of the ratio has a slightly different knee characteristic.antithesist wrote:Thanks, that's good and good to know. None are what i would count as being a 'hard' knee tho, FWIW; All of the knees have curvature (my definition of a hard knee being an obvious change over point between compressed and not compressed)
