Importing audio

Hello, I have two questions/problems. I am new to music technology so these are painfully simple things:
1. In mulab, I am trying to import a .wav file. However, it plays doublespeed and is up a few octaves. Altering the tempo does not do anything...what am I missing that allows me to just import a normal .wav file?
2. I am confused as to the relationship between Sampla and MultiSampla; the online guide doesn't do a good job of explaining how to use them. How do I create a set of samples, and how do I use them in MultiSampla?
Thanks, internet!

Hi
I think I can try to answer to your first problem.
Every wav file is encoded at a certain sample rate. The most usual is 44.1 khz (CD standard). What seems to be the problem there is the difference between samplerate of your file and the settings of the program.
Right now, Mu.Lab I don't think that support audio files in sequencer at different samplerates.
Check the settings on Mu.Lab (Edit -> Audio Setup -> Samplerate) and then check the samplerate of your file. Those should be the same.
You can convert the wav file at the desired samplerate using Audacity, one of the best free sound editors around.

Good news: The forthcoming MU.LAB 3.1 will automatically resample any audio files that have a different samplerate than the audio engine

When I try to import an audio file that is a different sample rate from settings it resamples it but the file is empty when it opens. I cannot find where to change the sample setting for the project. Please help.

Sounds good. How far off are we from having time stretching or some sort of elastic audio feature in Mulab? Is this likely to be in Mulab5? Yeah, I know you need to release Mux vst first....we are an impatient bunchmutools wrote:Good news: The forthcoming MU.LAB 3.1 will automatically resample any audio files that have a different samplerate than the audio engine

Well, I think "time stretching" is already here, due to "the forthcoming MU.LAB 3.1" ...

Just double-checked this and it's working fine here on both Windows as OSX.
What audio file type are you using? And when you open that same file via SESSION -> Import Sample Sound, then does it load right?
Anyone else encountering probs with audio files that have a different samplerate than the audio engine?

Whether I drag and drop or import it resamples and when the file appears in the track there is just a flat line, no sound.mutools wrote:Just double-checked this and it's working fine here on both Windows as OSX.

Happens with sample rates higher than 44.1
I've tried 96, 192 etc. Result is always the same.

Which OSX version?
32 bit or 64 bit mac?
What type of audio file: Wave or Aiff? (bis)
Does that audio file load fine when loaded as a sample via Import Sample Sound? (bis)

Within Mulab resampling works flawlessly
Interestingly, when I load a .wav file or sample, a short bit is often added at the end, also a flat line. When douple-clicking the part to edit it, that flat line part is grayed out, though. I wonder if that has to do with it...
There are .wav files with and without compression, maybe that also plays a role.
