Update : This issue have been solved with the 2.5.4.142 update (if you still have the bug, download it again since update has been updated ;) )

Hello,

That's not the first time I reported this issue, but never had any answer. The bug is here since many versions of live and synthmaster.
So it's time to create a new topic... Can't use this software I bought some time ago because it's too unreliable... :(

So, it's really easy to reproduce :

1) Load the plugin
2) In the OSC section, on OSC1, change the type in the drop down. Select Wave Scan.
3) The bug : the OSC stays in "Basic" Type. Sometimes it crashes ableton live at this point.
4) Sometimes you can go further. Select again "Wave scan", and you'll get it.

This bug was only VERY annoying before, now since 8.3.2 it's crashing live most of the time. I think there is a memory leak somewhere...

Until it will be fixed, I prefer to warn users with the same setup. I will post an update on the first post the day it will be fixed.

Bump :)

Post

I am using Live 8.3.2 and SM v2.5.4.141 (Windows 7 32-bits version) and have no problems. I am running Ableton Live in administrator-mode and changed some permission settings for the VST(plugins)-folder...

Hello,

I'm reporting this bug for MacOS X, not Windows (i also have a windows setup running synthmaster fine with the same version of Ableton Live).

I think there is something wrong with the mac versions :

With the AU version on Live, no crash but the OSC type menu is still sending me to "Additive" instead of "wavetable" the first time I select it.
VST version is crashing when I do the same thing, or sometimes it is doing the same strange thing than AU version.

I saw that this bug (strange menu behaviors) was mostly fixed. But I report this (again) because it is still there but Bulent seems to ignore it. :? It just makes me think that the UI code is very weak and that he's avoiding to touch it :D

It would be great if someone else could confirm this bug on MacOSX Lion / Live 8.3.x.
Easy to test

I am aware of the bug. I think it is happening because we are using out of bound parameter values for discrete parameters. (normally for VSTs parameter values are between 0-1). and this is Ableton specific. I will look into it again guys.

@kv331: Just so you know, I've been interested in SynthMaster but when I tried the demo a few weeks back, it quickly became apparently it was very unstable with Ableton Live and Mac. I don't have the time or patience to struggle with buggy plug-ins any more, so I promptly deleted SynthMaster off my system.

I saw you are having a sale now, and I was interested for a moment, but cannot buy it because of the bugs with Live on Mac.

If I knew this was addressed I would reconsider buying SynthMaster.

I imagine there's a lot of people running Live on Mac, and I wonder how many of them tried the demo and wrote off SynthMaster as badly broken software without giving any feedback.

Did it become unstable during osc waveform changes? Could you give me any details if you remember?

Thanks!

I don't remember exactly, but I believe I was trying out the basic features, so it is quite possible I was playing with the oscillator settings. That's down in the lower left of the GUI, right? I think I was in the lower left area...

I could try out the demo once you fix the known issue and let you know if I have further problems. I'll watch this thread for updates.

Yes, the bug reported here is located in the lower left of the GUI.
Good to see it will be fixed soon, waiting for the update :)

Well, I just checked the .142 updated version, as it seemed the fix was in the changelog, but unfortunatly, still crashing for me :(
Same behavior than before for both AU (not crashing but Wavescan still goes to Basic) and VST (still crashing)

Anyway, thank you for working on this fix, I hope you'll find what's going on soon.

I couldnt fix the dropdown resetting to first element yet when selected for the first time. That only happens with Ableton Live though.

but for the crash I am sure I fixed that. Anyhow, will test further with Ableton....

Ok, if it can help you i checked some use cases :

Just after starting the plugin (VST version) :

About the crash :

- It seem to happend less than before.
The best way to get it is to reload the whole plugin, and directly switch to Wavescan. If there is no crash, then do it again.

Sometimes it's happening very quickly, sometimes I have to do it (reload + wavescan switch) 5 or 6 times to get the crash. But it's still happening.

If you don't reload the plugin when the plugin is not crashing, I've found that the crash never occurs. Maybe something is not well allocated the first time. Please note that i'm on a SSD drive, so maybe the first load of the initial waves is sometimes happening before a memory alloc (I'm just guessing...)

About the problem with OSC type menu :

- Basic to anything but Additive -> Goes to Additive. Then additive to whatever goes to whatever. If i don't go back to basic, then the menu is working fine. If I go back to basic, then the same thing occurs again (additive step).

Guys,

I worked on this Ableton issue further today, and I guess I nailed it down completely. My tests on both Win/Mac versions of Ableton worked fine.

Could you guys please download the latest update and try again? It should have been fixed now!

Thanks for your patience :)
