I sampled my new Okarina this morning so here comes a first demo for a Padshop Pro patch using Okarina samples, raw and processed:

I read not all posts... Padshop Pro is installed with the latest Cubase Update (6.5.1)? So with the upgrade it will only be unlocked to the Pro version?

No. You need to purchase the upgrade from Padshop (which IS installed with 6.5) to Padshop Pro (which is an additional $9.99 (Not sure about Euros).

I'll try that, thank you very much, Simon. For the life of me, I can't understand why the installer would allow the user to choose a different location for the samples, if that will only break the connection between Padshop and its content... what did the beta testers say?Sampleconstruct wrote:Maybe try making an alias folder which is linked to your external HD, the factory sample location on a Mac should be (it's a locked sample container):
HD (not user)/Application Support/Steinberg/Content/Padshop/VST Sound/
and the user samples will automatically be put here after dropping them into Padshop

I explored and experimented Padshop Pro alot these past few days, although I don't have anything to share yet, I have to say I really like it and I'm quite surprised how smooth the granular engine sounds, often without any fx. Those grain streams overlapping on each other really create deep organic sounds, especially when used with a subtle random touch.
With the sample import now implemented, it's difficult not to compare it to Alchemy (granular side only of course) and while I'm a fan of Alchemy, I really think it now has a serious opponent to be scared of

Loving Padshop Pro. Really.
Built a whole track around one choir patch last night. Used Retrologue for the bass, and NI's Prism for additional atmosphere and a pluck lead. (I also love Prism.) BFD2 for a beat and I'm good to go.
Very satisfying. I agree with Neon Breath about the 'smooth' factor.
Cheers

I finally got it working, and I think it's amazing. ESPECIALLY for pad stuff. Some of the Synth Pads are instant mood creators, perfect for scoring work, ambient music, etc. Steinberg's got a real winner, here, IMHO, and I'm stoked about adding my own samples!

Mysterious Okarina Morseflute in Padshop Pro:

I must say this Grainmachine produces gentle grains if needed with hardly any audible/disturbing artifacts.
