Well I've "found" another synth which doesn't happen too often - first I "found" Absynth, then Alchemy, then Metasynth, then Iris and then Padshop Pro. I also found Zebra and ElectraX but my love for those is more seasonal.4damind wrote:Simon, it seems you have found _your_ synth

All the talk seems to be centered around Padshop. No love for Retrologue? I've really become fond of it over the last week or two. Simple straight forward and with a very pleasing character.....

I doubt Simon will ever find "his" synth
(just as there won't be a synth, which will do it all for me)...
Every one brings something different to the table (if not, I don't buy it) - for example Absynth - the unique FX section and semi-modular synthesis, Alchemy - a waste amount of modulation possibilities, multisampling, additive synthesis, and Padshop - well, yeah, maybe a more smoother grain engine, and a more instanous access (though I still have to explore it a little more).
But what Simon seems to have a knack for IMO, is to bring out the best of every synth he's putting his fingers on, going deep into it, and explore also some even less obvious aspects with them.
Not that others couldn't do it, but Simon often seem to go the extra mile beyond a good sound, adding modulations or other goodies to make it great.
Just my 2 cents on this subject...
Best...

Indeed, lovely...Teksonik wrote:All the talk seems to be centered around Padshop. No love for Retrologue? I've really become fond of it over the last week or two. Simple straight forward and with a very pleasing character.....
but I doubt, it's something Simon's into...
But I'm looking out for Xenos' next soundset (or two), which will be for
this synth - so watch out for those...

And Simon, don't forget your pal Chromaphone!

Yeah, the Padshoppers highjacked this thread but maybe Q8 should have made 2 threads, one for each release.
@Ben - very true, I did "find" Chromaphone, that's a special one as well!
@Frank - thank's for analyzing

There's been a slight change of plans..."Oldschool Electronica", the vintage style bank, is finished, but Steinberg appears to be interested in buying the rights to it. I'll know for sure probably Tuesday. In the meantime, I started on a second Retrologue set called "Pure Techno". 56 sounds at this writing and should have the full 100 on that one Monday or Tuesday. "Pure Techno" will for sure be sold at my site and strongly emphasizes Tech-House, Electro House and Minimal Techno.losan wrote:Indeed, lovely...Teksonik wrote:All the talk seems to be centered around Padshop. Hello,
I have not read the entire thread so forgive me if I am repeating this question.
Did anyone compare PadShop Pro with Crossfade Loop Synth
http://www.expert-sleepers.co.uk/xfadelooper.html
Time Freeze
http://www.timefreezer.net/
Or other similar programs as good or better than Padshop Pro.

Padshop Pro is MILES away from Time Freeze, trust me. The closest I can think of is Alchemy and Absynth. And still, Padshop is definitely unique and has its own character giving it a special color no other granular synths have yet.Kalamata Kid wrote:Hello,

Definitely a great granular synth, very inspiring and clearly a winner with the reverb and sample import they added with the Pro edition. Here's a demo of the pads I did for Zero Gravity. It's the expansion for Padshop Pro:Neon Breath wrote:Padshop Pro is MILES away from Time Freeze, trust me. The closest I can think of is Alchemy and Absynth. Neon Breath,
The sound from Time Freeze demo http://www.timefreezer.net/ seems a little more crisp. There is less of a haze around the sound. I like it both ways crisp and with a haze. But I will take you to your word that overall the PadShop is a better program.
I would like to get an opinion on the Crossfade Loop Synth and how it compares with Padsop. http://www.expert-sleepers.co.uk/xfadelooper.html
Luftrum, nice sound tracks!
I use a Padsop preset that sounds interesting then I import my wav into Padshop. I then edit my wav. Is this how it is done?
