Or other similar programs as good or better than Padshop Pro.
Timefreeze interface looks pretty dated and little hands on, compared to the instant tweak-ability, and very stylish outlook of Padshop Pro.

Padshop Pro is also cheaper at $79, while TF is $99, go figure

Sounds great! Are these real-time, or are they multiple tracks based on Zero Gravity presets?

This patch uses one sample, each oscillator in Padshop playing a different segment of that sample using multiple grainstreams, playhead position, grain length controlled by a combination of 2 LFOs and a bit of randomization, also some filtering (Modwheel controlled) and FX going on in Padshop.

I made the sample by processing a swell (a low DO, about 7 seconds long, creshendo/decreshendo) played on a Euphonium (brass instrument) which I recorded with 3 mics (L-C-R) some days ago during the recordings for a piece of mine.
I then stretched that sample in Paulstretch to about 70 seconds, imported it into Logic to process it furtherly with a multiband instance of Saturn and some Valhalla Übermod. Then exported that to import it into Padshop to program the patch.

They are straight out-of-the-box presets, played without external effects. Just single presets, no layering or multiple tracks. :-)

Padshop Pro is also great for making/playing temposynced sequences which sync to the host tempo of your DAW as one can assign temposynced LFOs or the step modulator to playhead position:

Then you can reverse the grains with the Modwheel , add temposynced filter modulation and so much more - really good fun!

thanks a lot for your description :)! i dunno if there is a demo of the padshop pro version, hmmmmm would be nice to test it in fl studio.

There is not.

But there are tons of audio demos and videos on Steinberg website. Such as this one, that is quite nice and shows pretty well how the granular synthesis in Padshop works:

Quite an amazing synth that surprised me alot... :o

you also have alchemy :), how do you like padshop compared to alchemy? what advantages or different techniques gives it to you?
is it in some cases easier for things you want to achieve?

Yes mate I have Alchemy. That's a difficult question honestly cause both synths are still pretty different. Alchemy is a more 'complete' synth if I can say, cause you have additive, spectral, VA, granular engines. Its modulation possibilities are pretty endless as well, so it's an amazing flexible synth. Padshop (I own the Pro version) is granular only with 2 hearts instead of 4, but Padshop doesn't suffer of it at all. From what I've experienced so far I tend to prefer Padshop's granular engine, with its very rich & smooth grain streams and effective grain controls. It's really a unique granular instrument no doubt, there's something really nice going on under the hood that my ears really like. It's also a very easy synth to use, which is always fun. Until Alchemy 2, for my granular deep drones and pads Padshop is now my new fav. But I'm pretty sure Camel Audio is going to retaliate with their V2 of Alchemy. Will be nice to follow... :D

I'm near to start a new drone ambient digital album for end of fall/winter and Padshop is going to be one of my main tools to create it, that's for sure... With Alchemy on its side of course! :P

...Now, maybe Simon can add its GRAINS  of salt too, since he worked and experimented Padshop alot as well...

yes thats my main reason for alchemy which i bought over a month ago and love ;), i think in padshop you can be more specific though with positioning and see it.
