Sometimes i really miss the freeze button i had on my earlier music prob.
Would it be possible to add this "downmix just one track and free up all the resources tha the effects and stuff use button"
It would be of great help and it would fot just perfectly besides the solo and mute buttons on the track.
Sometimes my computer is becoming very cramped with all tbe stuff that is happening and with a freeze it would free up resources so good that you could manage mulab on a quite humble setup.
Regards
Robert

I mixed down 7 tracks yesterday and imported it as an audio file into another session. If there were any limit on tracks in Mulab UL, this might be a way around it

It would still be fantastic to take a "snapshot" of the track instantly just with a press of a button and after a while when you wold like to edit the track, in the mixing process or whatever, you just press the button again to " unfreeze" it.
Dowmnmix is a far more unflexible way to do it.
Everything works but flexibility ( is that even a word) is essential to make some work done.

That's a feature in Ohm Studio that's pretty useful. Click the snowflake on a track and it's frozen, just like that.
Personally, I'd like to be able to choose precisely where in the process chain a freeze happens, rather than have it imposed at track level, though... I've no idea if that's feasible.

I also think that a freeze on module level sounds very interesting, at least theoretically. But atoh, how to do this from the practical side? Practically such freeze button on track level is so handy indeed. To be elaborated. I expect to add more such richer freeze features in M5.

Isn't that mostly interesting because many people's CPU load gets rather high? I doubt anyone using software to make music is still using a one-core processor. Up until half a year ago I still had a 5-year old computer with an ancient Athlon one-core chip
It certainly was not appropriate for any DAW. I tried two DAWs and they would not even run
Once multi-core support is implemented, I suppose freezing tracks is not so interesting anymore.
In many cases VST's seem to be the resource hogs. I did a long pattern where I use a nice, but obviously demanding external synth sound twice. And only during those two phases does my computer load take off. It is not even chords, just individual notes... Mulab sounds seem rather efficient, though. Sometimes I can add a few more tracks and there is hardly any increase in the CPU load.

Sorry, but all of my music develops on my 2 year old netbook with an intel atom 450 cpu. (That's why I'm not requesting multi core support.)fluffy_little_something wrote:Isn't that mostly interesting because many people's CPU load gets rather high? Sometimes, yes. But on the other hand most of the mulab demos (without VSTs!) will not run on my netbook. Many of the MuXs are very cpu consumptive, at least on my hardware.fluffy_little_something wrote:In many cases VST's seem to be the resource hogs. OK, but frankly, DAWs are powerful applications, not really intended for netbooks

You're right. May I give you the number of my bank account?fluffy_little_something wrote:OK, but frankly, DAWs are powerful applications, not really intended for netbooks
All joking apart MuLab works fairly good on my netbook, and I'd like to keep this combination as long as possible.

Aren't Germans rich?
Well, you can have my old Athlon 3700+ computer for free
I never tried Mulab on it, didn't know about it back then, I wonder if it had worked...

In fact all germans are rich. That's why Merkel is so popular ...fluffy_little_something wrote:Aren't Germans rich?
