Always buy the product for what they offer now, and not in the future. The rest is wishful thinking.

They should delete the feature requests session, then! For what it's worth... :?
And be clearer: less cheesy "cool young people" in their promotional videos and more info about reason's (grave) gaps :x

What's wrong with "cool young people"?

they are cheesy, embarassing, not realistic, with all those gestures and "think different" t-shirts, the skate etc. We are all nerds: the developers included 8)

I really hope someone would put me out of my misery if I ever posted on forums incessantly about a computer program I don't even use. And being a past user doesn't make it any better. I sunk quite a bit of time and money into Sonar over the years and have happily forgotten about it. I can't imagine caring what features it does or doesn't have now. Sonar is a great example of product development driven by user requests, BTW.

That is why they should at least explain some grave gaps (no midi out, no vst support, no delay compensation, no drag and drop, etc.). Why? Because Reason is not a free product, on the contrary it is quite expensive for what it offers.
And how did Propellerhead prevent you from investigating what you would get for your money before you bought it? Have they fooled you to believe that you would get midi, vst support delay compensation etc.? Unless they have done such things, PH owe you just about nothing at all and your argument is as fallacious as can be.

But it doesn't really matter does it? This is about complaining for the sake of complaining isn't it? Considering the rate at which you post in these Reason threads one thing is certain: Whatever you do with your music software, making music is not one of them!

I am from a time when 4 track tape recorders were nothing less than miracles and I tell you that you wouldn't know the meaning of the word "limitation" even if it was a piece of rubber covering your dick when you are about to do your girlfriend. Spoiled children are what you are.

Because most of us are/were long time users. Regarding me, I used it for more than 10 years, since 2001. And they never listened to us, despite a "feature request" session. For instance, everyone wanted audio tracks in 2003, but they answered they would have never introduced them. Then, after a few years... audio tracks for reason?!! And not because it was a requested feature... only because they had to merge reason and record after the epic record commercial failure. Same for the dongle... years of "we trust you, we believe the best dongle is honesty" and blablabla... and now reason has a bloody dongle. Then again "plugins? never, or reason won't be reason anymore", despite the fact 99% asked for vst support since 2003... but, guess? now they introduced REs, without warning... I don't like this policy, sorry. It is very confusing, and many feel cheated after years of loyal support.

Dear Myrna
All this is only a problem if you are expecting them to do as their users say and insofar they never made such a promise, they still don' t owe you anything. It might feel like shit but put the blame on your own expectations not them. And regarding audio track and dongles, you are not forced to upgrade Reason, are you? You can just stick to the version you already got. The solution to all this is in your mind and not in the hands of PH.

To be fair, they did very publicly state that they would never have a dongle, and gave very sensible reasons why that would be. And it is the codemeter dongle which has caused some of the issues that have been reported by users, including the crashes that I experienced. However great their own code, they have outsourced the dongle (which is out of character) and the drivers just aren't as solid as I would have expected from Propellerhead ...

Also they made it clear repeatedly that they wouldn't have audio tracks or plugins. If you see their previous comments as a "promise" then there is certainly a basis for feeling "betrayed"... although for my part I don't feel angry in the way that myrna seems to... life's too short. I just feel that by changing direction a few times in the last couple of years they have given an impression that they aren't sure themselves where they are going, and it's hard to invest potentially large sums on Re in that case. But I can understand why those who use Reason only would want to jump on at least a few of those so far on offer so...

You know well there's one thing in computer products called "obsolescense". Of course one who invested lots of money in a product HAS TO update it! Or you risk to remain "out of the game" Never heard about people "stuck" on version 3 or 4 and "happy". Not to mention the "64 bit" hype...

No one HAS TO upgrade anything. What a strange claim. Reason 3 still works as Reason 3 even if there is an upgrade to Reason 4. What does "stuck" mean here? Nothing at all as far as I can see, unless you will claim that Reason 3 all of a sudden stops working because a new update is released. Once again: You should buy what is, and not what you expect to come. If you do that, you won' t get stuck with anything.

come on, you know well what I mean. Reason is (... was?) supposed to be a software for friends and musicians who collaborate, change refills, songs etc. See the cheesy promo video :D "i ain't cool now, i'm stuck at 3" :hihi:

If you buy what is and you started with Reason 3, then you are still able to collaborate with people who use Reason 3 as you were when you bought it. Besides you can still use any Refills for the instruments in Reason 3 can' t you? I do not know whether Reason 3 files can be opened in 6.5 or vice versa (using only the shared modules of course) but this has so far not been your concern. What you keep ranting about is midi and vst support. Two things you haven't been promised at any time before you bought the product, right? Finally there is still this problem that you apparently spend all your time writing about Reason instead of using it or find an alternative. I recommend shifting to Orion. It is a softsynth studio concept with many of the features you request and a good deal of users you can collaborate with. In others words: Isn' t it time for you to move on or do you intend to spend the rest of your life crying over Reason at KVR?

Well, in this respect I would have been pissed too. For my concern I have broken a oath to myself actually buying a dongled product, but for once I felt it was worth it. However being pissed over a copy protection scheme is very remote from being pissed at lack of features such as midi or vst support, which has never been promised to anyone AFAIK.

This doesn't make sense to me. Who on Earth do suffer from the fact that Reason now has audio tracks :nutter: If you don' t like them, don' t use them. Or am I missing something? :help:
